I am artsy, introverted, and non-judgemental.
My Self-Summary
If you've ever undergone a revolution in your perspective on life
during which you question everything from your job, your friends,
your decision to go to college, etc, then you'll understand has
occurred for me in 2009. I can't say I came to a specific epiphany;
it was more like a gradual snowballing of frustration and
doubt.
Anyway, in August, I left my "well-paying, upstanding" position in
the corporate world in order to pursue my dreams of becoming a
musician (and achieving financial independence). I've sang and
played
guitar and
piano seriously for
about 10 years, but until now I've never tried to put it out there
or make a living off of it. It's now or never!
For those concerned about stability, never fear--I'm also making a
living trading currency online. It's so boring it's not worth
wasting any more characters on here.
What I’m doing with my life
So I'm taking my act on the road.. I've made a few demos that
aren't perfect but I still like them very much. I'm working hard on
a few more that are in a different style now--I'm certainly at a
creative apex in my life.
I’m really good at
Feeling estranged from my fellow members of this society. This
especially goes for those upper-middle class, suburbanite,
college-preparatory Gen-Y'ers with whom I grew up, whose
materialistic, judgemental, and self-serving ways I find especially
foreign. *gets off high horse*
To answer the question, I feel like I'm "good" at a lot of things,
but great at very few. It's frustrating.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose my height, although I don't think I'm all that tall. Or
perhaps my supposed resemblance to that no-talent ass clown star of
Pearl Harbor and Armegeddon. I don't see that either.
He, as well as the rest of the cast, was great in
Dogma though.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I don't read books. This isn't to say I don't read; I would put the
amount I read up against just about anyone. I just do it in a
different way. I seek bits and pieces of information from various
sources on the internet rather than a single coalesced viewpoint of
a single author. (no offense)
I am also apparently deficient in keeping up with the latest movies
and DVD releases. If I had a dime for each time I was chided for
not seeing something like The Big Lebowski. "Dude, it was
hilarious!"
Music: No surprise, I'm a bit of a snob here. I'll throw out some
well-known faves:
Radiohead,
Air, the
Police,
Led Zepplin,
Rush,
Nirvana, and--what the hell--
the gorillaz.
Food is almost unimportant to me. Whatever can be made in under 5
minutes usually works.
The six things I could never do without
I don't think "air, water, etc" are in the spirit of this field.
Those notwithstanding, I would say:
1. An instrument and my vocal chords
2. A device connected to the internet (for me these days it's
becoming about 50/50 phone/computer thanks to smart phones)
3. A game console, in my case a
ps3
4. A t-shirt and mesh shorts
5. A device that can extract Tetrahydrocannabinol from that
infamous green plant and deliver it into my bloodstream
6. Something to read while I'm on the john (I'm being pragmatic
here)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
For God's sakes, why was I born here? And now? I'm often
pessimistic about our society, it's members, and its institutions.
But that isn't to say I've lost hope or that I don't care. Quite
the opposite.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably hitting the
gym, then either back home for a night of
internet surfing, music strumming,
420 and TV watching or over to a friend's
for the same.
Most likely you won't find me at a bar, although I get drug out on
occasion. In general I find them loud, uncomfortable, confining,
and just downright boring most of the time. If we're going to out
to hang out and converse, why would we choose a location that plays
its music so loud that you must scream over it in order to hear one
another? Considering the frequency with which people who I know
gravitate to places like this, I'm convinced I'm the only one who
feels this way.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm a HUGE
Star
Trek TNG fan. I'm
watching an episode on my computer as I type.
You should message me if
To make a generalization, I tend to get along with other souls who
feel misunderstood, are fiercely independent, are very progressive
in their values, and don't have a judgmental bone in their body. As
I've stated, I feel society's institutions more often confine,
rather than liberate us.
From my past experiences, here are a few things that are important
to me:
1. I'm a crazy
texter, but not much for long-winded
phone calls. Come on over and we'll talk for hours.
2. I'm also not much of a drinker, but I'm very much into
420 and the culture that
surrounds it. Hundreds of hall of fame musicians can't be
wrong.
3. More than any other factor, the loyalty/trust I perceive from
someone is that variable which most directly corresponds to how
close they become to me.
4. For all of the lamenting I do in this profile, I feel like I
have a great--if dark--sense of humor. It permeates everything, and
nothing is out of bounds. The easily offended and politically
correct should steer clear.
5. Typically I'm attracted to those who are rough around the edges
and less mature than I am. Not sure why that is or even if its
relevant here.
I feel like I'm coming off as dour and a bit pretentious. I think I
can be a little of each of those sometimes, but in general I'm
anything but.
