My self-summary
I work full-time during the day, spend many evenings and weekends studying, and a couple days per week running. I try to make some downtime for socializing and relaxing when possible.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a technologist within a line of business at a major corporation. (Read as: I translate between the languages of 'geek' and 'business' as a blend of project manager, systems analyst, and business analyst.) I have some ideas where I want to go with my career, but I am not sure how to make it happen -- yet. Many evenings and weekends consist of homework to help make progress toward the goal of career advancement.

If I make free time, I usually spend it homebrewing, cooking, running, and (infrequently lately) practicing photography.
I’m really good at
I like to think I am good at homebrewing, but I know there is plenty of room to grow and quality to improve. I am trying to break into mead and cider to expand options as well.

I probably should want to lean more toward being good at being pragmatic, but likely tend toward pedantic more often. I try to use that as a strength.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones series, Ender's Game, Slaughterhouse-Five, Catcher in the Rye, 1984, 2001: A Space Odyssey (and the whole Space Odyssey series), stuff by David Sedaris, Arthur C. Clarke, and Richard Dawkins. Lately I have been reading more than previous years, but most casual reading is between semesters with all the reading required for those classes.

Movies: My favorite move of all time is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also great are American Beauty, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones movies, Darren Aaronofsky movies, Stanley Kubrick movies, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Tron, and probably others I am forgetting.

Music: Orbital, Underworld, Phantogram, Sigur Rós, LCD Soundsystem, Stereolab, M83, Radiohead, Garbage, Portishead, The Flaming Lips, Boards of Canada, Spoon, The Stone Roses and much, much more. I have a lot of music and I do not feel this list completely captures everything.

Podcasts: Freakonomics, The Truth, Marketplace, Wiretap, 99% Invisible, Planet Money, This American Life, The Moth, Radiolab, The Infinite Monkey Cage, You Are Not So Smart, The Nerdist, The Complete Guide to Everything, Nerd Poker, and others.

Food: Sushi, pad thai, brick-oven pizza, much more.

Television: Breaking Bad, Archer, Mythbusters, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Jeopardy!, Firefly, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Flight of the Conchords, Futurama, Good Eats, Penn & Teller: Bullshit, and others when I find time.
The six things I could never do without
Music, podcasts, time to think, good food, good beer, and Wikipedia.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think a lot about how things are done: lighting techniques and camera angles, recipes and flavors, homebrewing, continual improvement, and strategic planning. I spend a lot of time thinking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes out socializing with friends, but not too late. Early mornings always seem more worthwhile than late nights.
