I am drinking milk, commuting, and sleeping.
My Self-Summary
One of my friends calls me 'Cowboy' which is interesting because --
unbeknownst to her -- I sometimes think of myself as an 'urban
cowboy.' I'm a
motorcyclist, I'm a
shooter, I'm
adventurous, and I've
always been extremely
independent, having supported myself
by choice since the age of 18.
I like trying new things, seeing new places, and meeting new,
passionate, quality people.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm continuing to learn as I enjoy life.
For example, last year, I finished a beginning French class,
completed a 150-hour EMT course, learned how to do wheelies, took a
mindfulness-based meditation course,
and taught myself how to safely handle and shoot firearms.
After Christmas in Vegas, I flew to Israel to do some
sightseeing while learning
Krav Maga and
then spent the rest of January and half of February hanging out in
Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Paris, and London. Check out the
photos!
My favorite 24 hours of the trip: Woke up on New Years Eve, two
days after the The Gaza War started. Traveled by bus (with my new
Krav Maga buddies) through the West Bank to the Old City of
Jerusalem. Toured the four Quarters, Wailing Wall, etc. At night,
in the rain, and with the Western Wall in the background, learned
how to defend against knife attacks. Partied in the holiest city of
the world until 6 a.m. Helped an off-duty Israeli soldier. Woke up
a few hours later and climbed over 1000 feet to the top of
Masada.
So far this year -- in addition to my month-long vacation -- I
visited Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Manhattan a few times, took
a glass blowing course at The Crucible, did some more motorcycle
riding, and went skydiving for the first time. I just started a
six-week improv class at BATS Improv and I found a tango instructor
that I'm hoping to take a few introductory classes with.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at learning, logistics, listening, thinking
critically, being successful while staying relatively free and
independent, and winning "I spy."
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Most recently finished:
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle,
Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell,
The Brain That Changes
Itself, and
SuperFreakonomics. In progress:
Exuberance and
Free to Choose.
I normally listen to a lot of
trip hop (
Sneaker Pimps,
Massive Attack,
Thievery
Corporation,
Morcheeba), rock (
Pink Floyd,
Tool),
house (
Kaskade,
Tiësto) as well as the eclectic
(
Bran Van
3000, Operatica). I especially like female vocals and recently
discovered
Lupe
Fiasco.
Movies:
Top Gun to
Chasing Amy,
Léon to
Amélie,
Scarface to
Lost In
Translation. As far as TV series go, I love
Firefly,
The West Wing,
Huff,
Weeds,
Six Feet Under, and
House. My latest favorites
are
Burn
Notice,
Dexter
and
True Blood.

collection!
I also like many things French, including
crème brûlée,
lingerie,
liberté,
pasteurization,
kissing,
Ron Paul, and
Paris, but I wouldn't go so far as to say
that they define me.
The six things I could never do without
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday night I might be packing for an adventure,
dining out, clubbing, shooting at a local range, working late,
exploring a different city, at a comedy show, or some combination
of the above.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Seeing a couple riding on a motorcycle together gives me a
warm,
fuzzy feeling in one my special places.
Some electronic music, e.g.,
Resurrection by
PPK,
The
Longest Road by Morgan Page, Tiësto's
Sweet Things, or
his remix of
Silence by Delirium, can move my soul as much
as the
Ave
Maria.
