Hello! I consider myself an eclectic mix of characteristics: compassionate, independent, hard-working, funny (and a good audience for others' jokes), and intellectually curious. I strive to always learn new things, and to that end, I have a wide variety of interests: film (especially independent, foreign, and documentary, though I'm not too fussy), music, literature, cooking, gardening, art and art museums, and international travel, among other things. I love to play board games, tennis (badly), and to take canoe trips. Lest you think I'm too serious, I really enjoy being silly as well. :)

I work for a local non-profit organization in fund development. I also spend a fair amount of time volunteering with Meals on Wheels and serving on the board of a local theater company. I love animals and I can often be found helping a stray, starving, or injured cat or dog.

There are so many!
I love many kinds of food: sushi, Mexican, Italian, Indian...and I love trying new kinds.
Some favorite films: "Lost in Translation", "Amadeus", "Before Sunrise", "Before Sunset", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Saturday Night Fever", "Tropic Thunder", "Ghost World", and "Grizzly Man" (or any Werner Herzog film, for that matter). I'm a classic literature buff, so I love many of the well-known classics, such as "Jane Eyre", "Pride and Prejudice", "Tess of the D'Urbervilles", "Sister Carrie", "An American Tragedy", "The Scarlet Letter", and many others. Music: 60s R&B, 80s, Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen, Elvis Costello, Motown, Over the Rhine, some cheesy 70s music and far too many individual artists to list here.
There are also several TV shows that I love or have loved over the years: "My So-Called Life", "Battlestar Galactica" (not the 70's cheesy version), "House", "Mad Men", "The Office", "30 Rock", "So You Think You Can Dance", "Felicity", "Dexter", "Little House on the Prairie", and the most shameful one: "American Idol" (I know, I know....)
