@Joshuabrown, from Knoxville, UWS for the last 9 years, just bought a 1890's era house in the Hudson valley, photographer, 5 siblings (4 adopted 1 in the city), former Apple employee, centrist, INFJ, dog person, passport stamper, motorcycle lover, water lover, food cooker
Here are some more snippets for the rest of you:
-I'm on OKCupid because I want to be in a relationship. The problem is that you're not going to find me in a bar, I work for myself (and mostly weekends), and I don't let my clients set me up. So here I am.
-my personality type is literally the rarest. luckily for you, I come with an instruction manual.
-I've started up a new company that will be making travel goods, starting with bags and outerwear. It's called Roam & Wonder and you can find it as @roamandwonder everywhere.
-Here's my big caveat for some of you (best news for others). I lived in the city for 9 years, but I decided enough was enough and bought an 1890's era house in the Hudson Valley. So I'm only an hour north, and I come down pretty often for clients, dates, and friend dinners. There are virtually zero opportunities for dating up here, so thats why I keep my location on OKCupid as NYC.
-Photography is all I've ever known. I started in the pre-Instagram age of darkrooms and film at the age of 14 and I've never done much else. My money comes from photographing very expensive weddings all over the world and sometimes getting a little jealous of the love I document
-Peekamoose swimming hole and Great Captains Island are my two favorite local swimming spots. I'll take you anytime.
-I love to travel like everyone else here. I'm lucky that my job pays for occasional international trips. Ravello Italy and Tulum Mexico are high on the list of places I've been, Buenos Aires, Tanzania, and Croatia are high on the places I want to be.
-I lived on the upper west side for 9 years, lived in CA, UT, TN, KY, GA before that but I still have a southern personality (with a little bit of low key western and NYC ambition). I value kindness, loyalty, and well made biscuits.
-The only way that I am able to survive NYC is by getting the hell out of town as often as possible. I have a Jeep and a Vespa that take me on nearly weekly trips to the Hudson Valley, Montauk, Berkshires, etc. I also have memberships to the zoo, botanical garden, and the natural history museum, mostly for the sake of my 3 year old nephew that I love to hang with.
-i am interested in ambitious, opinionated, educated, self aware, curious women. I am not interested in masculine, busyholic, dominant control freaks looking for a quiet buy to balance them. I'm introverted, but not shy or passive AT ALL. I believe in working efficiently, choosing my friends wisely, and savoring my experiences so that I don't have to fill my calendar to feel fulfilled and accomplished.
-About 2 years ago I decided to start eating a lot more plants. I hate to be pigeonholed as a vegetarian or vegan, but I certainly lean that direction. Its purely for health reasons, and I also don't beat myself up if I want a Shake Shack burger every few months.
-I lean liberal on most things politically, but after growing up in the south, I have empathy for conservatives (but not ignorant, racist homophobic ones). Morale of the story is that I am serious about being a centrist and listening to viewpoints that I disagree with.
-I grew up religious in the south. Although I don't align with most religious people culturally or politically anymore, I still appreciate the lessons it taught me and the friends I still have. I believe religion can be a source of good in the world, but it's not the only source. It can certainly also be a source of ignorance and hatred.
