On a typical weekend, you'll find me browsing at a used bookstore (work in one a couple days a week, and would love to own one....in the right location), at home reading, listening to NPR or some jazz, hiking the local trails, or watching an old movie on DVD (especially those movies from silent era, the 30s, 40s, and 50s). I love big band music, enjoy antiquing (though I seldom buy), museums, hiking, and day trips. Of course, these things are all more thoroughly enjoyed in the company of someone with a similar take on life. Not into serial dating, I am looking for that person with which I can grow old.
I'm entertained by Dorothy Parker and H.L. Mencken; awed by Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole; humored by Big Bang Theory, Bill Maher, Lewis Black, Jon Stewart, and Jack Benny, and comforted by nature's beauty.
I prefer Checker Marathons to Ferraris or Porsches, peace and quiet to nightlife, Mary Ann to Ginger, warm weather to cold (love Arizona and the ocean), and plain black coffee to grande double mocha frappuchino expresso lattes (or whatever those things are). I believe in watching what I eat (can't imagine not having a natural foods store nearby)...but that doesn't mean I won't have a donut or a danish now and then!
I'm not looking for the perfect person...Real people...the type I wish to meet...have their own foibles, phobias, insecurities, and physical imperfections. (I certainly have my own share of the above.) I prefer someone who is humble and self-effacing. A tad of cynicism is always a wise thing.
I'm most attracted to socially progressive and non-religious types, jeans-types, and those more comfortable with just another person, or, at most in small groups. The number of places you've visited or the number of activities in which you've participated doesn't impress me....the kind of person you are does!
