My self-summary
I am a Cal Poly SLO graduate of biochemistry, originally from a small town in the central valley, CA.

I'm an ISFJ, independent, fun, dependable, respectful, people-oriented optimist. I joke around a lot and don't get embarrassed easily. And I unabashedly cheat while playing board games. (I'm the guy with 20 apples to apples cards in his pocket by the end of the game.)

I have a lot of interests. Food, science, hiking/camping/nature, travel, health, and art are pretty high up there on my list. I play golf (mostly with my dad now-a-days) and volleyball. I've been to 21 countries so far mostly in Europe, and during the Fall of 2011 I did a cross-country road trip across the US. I sing for fun, dabble in piano and watercolor, and was an Irish dancer for 10 years. I have a pretty calm and relaxed personality already, but hiking, cooking, or going to the gym helps me relax and clear my head.

I studied abroad in Copenhagen a few years ago and am fascinated with the concept of "hygge." (roughly translates to "coziness") I'm convinced that's their secret to happiness. (well, that, income equality, a culturally homogenous society, and an overuse of emoticons) So I really value time spent sitting with friends, drinking (alcoholic or non) and eating together, and having a good conversation.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm re-routing (was considering Med School or PhD programs) and am getting my teaching credential so I can teach high school chemistry! I also work in a lab where I mess with DNA/RNA.
I’m really good at
giving out complements, listening, forgetting movie plot lines, surviving on bread while traveling, remaining calm in stressful situations, not remaining calm during scary movies (I'm a jumper), finishing a gallon of milk wayyy before its expiration date.

I also try to make the best out of a situation, which makes for fun times when waiting in line or stuck in traffic. Metaphorically speaking, it's less about the destination and more about the journey! WHOOP WHOOP!
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile? It's my default expression.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a foodie. Food network. Cooks Illustrated (a subscription was actually a Christmas present!). I try new foods whenever I can.

I just finished reading Blue Like Jazz and The Fountainhead (I highly recommend it), and I'm starting on "The Shack".
To list a few I've enjoyed: Enders Game, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Happiness Project, The Laramie Project, anything by David Sedaris, Metamorphosis

Imogen Heap is my most listened to artist, but I also listen to hip hop, rock, classical, folk, jazz, and pop. Bluegrass is awesome although I don't have any on my itunes. My music is pretty eclectic.

NPR is the BEST!!! That's when I practice my accents too. hahah

Movie Favorites: The Breakfast Club, The Green Mile, Doubt, Hook, ET, Shawshank Redemption, It's a Wonderful Life, Life is Beautiful, There Will Be Blood, Mean Girls, Bridesmaids, Superbad, Kramer vs Kramer, Kung Fu Panda, and most documentaries.
The six things I could never do without
snacks
sleep
loved ones
camera
goals
the unexpected

I don't have a smart phone in fear that it might end up on this list.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Thoughts:
"how am I doing (physically/emotionally/spiritually)?"
"world news is much better than local news."
"I wonder if she's going to eat that?"
"I wonder what this would taste like with habenero?" (btw, mustard and cream cheese on a grilled cheese doesn't taste good.)
"if I pre-game, it'll be cheaper!"
"____(person's name) would think that's hilarious."
"I think I know someone who lives there!"
"what would I enjoy MOST as a career? hmm."
"should I ask if they're ok?.. yeah."
"that is definitely going into my music video."
"Why is this Christmas song stuck in my head?"
"I'm pretty darn lucky."
On a typical Friday night I am
Working or hanging out with friends or housemates.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wore mostly sweatpants to school until I was in 6th grade. Comfort first. :-)

Once I broke my thumb (I didn't want to tell my parents so I just put a band aid on it) and now one's shorter than the other.
