Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have dictated this entire profile whilst competing in a
triathlon. Please forgive any typographical errors or bad
In my younger and more vulnerable years, I spent time as a
Hollywood assistant, at a corporation in DC, though I am now
settled at Duke for the foreseeable future. I also singlehandedly
saved a busload of blind orphans and nuns from careening off a
cliff. It was a small cliff though.
Some of my proudest moments in recent history are winning the
Motorco Oscar pool and winning a Fullsteam jar from trivia.
I can kill spiders and build Ikea furniture. I can sometimes kill
spiders WITH Ikea furniture but I cannot build Ikea furniture with
spiders (they tend to be impatient and sloppy. Related: please do
not message me if you are a spider).
And I think OKCupid legally requires all profiles to mention
something about cooking, travel, and friends. So: cooking. Travel.
Friends. All these things and more can be yours. Oh and uh...
family - the most important thing besides breakfast.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at Duke as the lead video production engineer for online
courses. Beyond that... TBD.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Building things. Knowing the person that was in that thing. Making
worse puns than you can.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I have an insatiable and eclectic appetite for all of these things
but specific favorites are...
Movies: Rushmore, The Master, Wet Hot American Summer, Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, (500) Days of Summer, Inside Llewyn
TV: Parks and Rec (I strongly identify with Ben Wyatt/Adam Scott),
OITNB, Broad City, Fargo, Game of Thrones, Transparent
Music: St. Vincent, The Format, Chet Baker, Punch Brothers, Twin
Shadow, Japandroids, Sleater-Kinney. Though according to Spotify my
most listened to music is Taylor (before she left) and Frozen so
take that for whatever its worth.
Books: The Phantom Tollbooth sums up just about everything there is
to say about life. Never Let Me Go, Inherent Vice, Fun Home, HP of
Podcasts: Comedy Bang Bang, Stuff You Should Know
Food: Humanity technically perfected food in 1889 with the
invention of the pizza, but I find room for Thai, sushi, and such.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-A Red Ryder BB gun with a compass in the stock, and this thing
which tells time
-Nice clean socks
-The fam and frands
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How things work. Where things come from and why they are the way
they are now. How to write vague essay responses. The right balance
of sincerity and snark on a dating profile. Why is there something
and not nothing.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Listening to Rebecca Black's Friday on a loop alone in the dark.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
