My self-summary
I'm currently working for a nonprofit in NH while finishing my thesis. I lived in Montréal for undergrad and then did a postgrad in the UK, and have been travelling around a bit in between. I really have no idea what I want, to be honest. I'm in a weird place in life. I don't know what my deal is.

I know, appealing.

I'm a wanderer and secret romantic. I don't like to show the second part, though. I love learning new things. Carl Sagan is my hero. I like learning languages and experiencing different cultures. I tend to be be really indulgent and/or obsessive about things that interest me or things I feel. I'm historically inclined to avoid getting too comfortable anywhere, which I realize probably has some sad psychological explanation...but whatever. "Normal" people are boring.

Oh, and I'm not one of those girls who enjoys dressing up. I think I look "effortless", but the phrase "wandered out of Auschwitz" has been used by others.

I'm an INTJ, if you're familiar with Meyers-Briggs types.

Also. I'm a habs fan. I feel like people deserve to know that upfront.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm getting a Master of Public Policy so that I can become a bureaucrat. Or a revolutionary, still deciding.
I’m really good at
Procrastinating, writing research papers, procrastinating writing research papers. Cooking. Making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
For the last few years it's been that I'm American...but being back in the states means that I'm just like everyone else. THEY NOTICE NOTHING. NOTHING!!!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Prophet (Khalil Gibran), The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald), The Wretched of the Earth (Frantz Fanon), The Sheltering Sky (Paul Bowles), poetry of Suheir Hammad and Wisława Szymborska

Movies: Amadeus, Casablanca, Harold and Maude, Dr. Zhivago, Lost In Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums, Moulin Rouge, Star Wars (no, not the prequels), and Raiders of the Lost Ark

Television: Cosmos, House, Parks and Recreation, Mighty Boosh, Fresh Meat, HIMYM, Big Bang Theory

Music: The White Stripes, The Kinks, The New Pornographers, Fela Kuti, Amadou & Mariam, Jay-Z, Rilo Kiley, the Smiths, Radiohead, The Shins, Dan Mangan, Cat Stevens, Lauryn Hill

Food: I love all things involving food, including understanding where it comes from. I love Lebanese and Indian food lately, but certain New England classics and Polish-American dishes will always be comfort food to me. I love seafood and take it very seriously.
The six things I could never do without
a book
my dog
my mom ( I know, aww)
skype (related to the previous one)
wool socks
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Michel Foucault's Discipline and Punish. What I'm going to make for dinner. What kind of dog to get when I'm an old maid. The standard model of particle physics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Drunkenly telling a stranger about something they didn't ask about and have no interest in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I watch WAY more documentaries than is socially acceptable. Also, I love Harry Potter. And I'm not sorry.
