My Self-Summary
I like to converse. Favorite topics include sex (with occasional forays into gender and sexuality), spirituality, parenting, the world and life in general.
I enjoy museums, zoos, amusement parks, and walks in forest
preserves with clear, comfortable trails.
I love kids, used to work with them, have two sons, Will, born July
2005, and Finn, born July 2008, and was born to be a stay-at-home
mom. I don't recruit...in fact, I typically encourage people NOT to
have children. This just happens to be what I'm naturally cut out
for and find fulfilling.
I'm happily in love with Tom, whom I married in 1996. We are
best friends and spend the vast majority of our free time together,
so it's pretty much necessary to like both of us. Fortunately, he's
an easy guy to like. I'm the difficult one. :P
I'm not actively looking for anything more than friends (except
with this Quiver feature here that I've rather grown to like), but
if the right woman came along, I wouldn't exactly be sad. I feel
like my life would be nicely rounded out, in fact, if I could fill
that woman-to-woman romance niche permanently.
I am in NO WAY looking for the mythical hot bi babe. While I am not
entirely closing the door on a triad type thing if the right person
comes along, that's as far as it goes. I'm looking for me, period.
And he is absolutely fine with that.
I suppose I ought to mention what I'm looking for in Ms. Right,
too. I'm looking for a part-time relationship (making two full-time
relationships work while actively parenting just isn't gonna
happen), but a long-term one. Ms. Right would be intelligent,
liberal, possessed of a good sense of humor, kinked in the right
direction, and kind. For more details, write me. :)
Once you know me, I'm very assertive, but I'm not good at making
the first move. If you like me, contact me. Seriously. I really
want to hear from you. Tell me why you like me/what you think we
have in common and I will write back.
What I’m doing with my life
We have a desire to ultimately immigrate to Canada, but changes in policy have us stuck in the States for the foreseeable future. In the next five years we plan to move either to the US Northeast (New England) or, if we get really lucky, to southern Ontario. Just a heads up for the future. Illinois is not our long-term location...hopefully!
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
When you see me, I look like a pretty typical overweight woman. Then I open my mouth and it turns out I'm a freak. I long ago embraced my freaky self, fortunately.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My all-time favorite film is Princess Bride (although there are a
LOT of close runner-ups including The Last Unicorn, The Ghost and
Mrs. Muir, The Muppet Movie, Muppets Take Manhattan, Labyrinth,
Goonies, Annie, and Star Wars.) I am also a huge Star Trek fan.
STNG FTW. (That's more than enough geek cred, no? :P)
I listen to most music, but generally listen to rock (light to
heavy varieties, generally more light), folk, and classics from
most eras/styles. I have a pretty large collection of "Greatest
Hits" albums and "Various Artists" albums. Some artists I listen to
frequently include:
Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Buffett, John Denver, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard,
Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa, Peter, Paul and Mary, Keb Mo' and Dr.
John.
Vegetarian who only embraced cooking in the last year or so. I am not a very adventurous eater...I don't like hot/spicy food and am highly disappointed that I can't seem to enjoy Indian food. I'm turning out to be a fairly creative cook, though, within the limitations of the foods I like. :) I still love to eat out, though, mostly Chinese, Italian, and non-spicy Mexican.
