I am somber, jaded, and optimistic.
My Self-Summary
Oh, OKCupid. It’s been far too long, so I decided that a profile
revision was in order. I suppose that the best place to begin is at
the beginning: I’m Jeremy. Hello. No – the pleasure is mine,
really. I’m 28 years old, and I live in
Columbia, Missouri. It
would appear that I’m in the unfortunate predicament of not knowing
how to summarize myself apart from my name, age, and location.
Perhaps that’s telling. Damn it.
What I’m doing with my life
I have never really been good at “life,” per se. I finally
graduated from the University of Missouri. I know, right? But don’t
worry – I don’t have a real degree; I graduated with a degree in
General Studies. You can laugh, it’s fine. I just never could
figure out what I wanted to do, and kind of ended up with
that!
Aside from my educational embarrassments, I’m perfectly happy in my
field of employment. I’m a supervisor for a textbook company in
town, and I really enjoy my job. That’s not to say that I want to
do this forever, but it’s what I’m doing now. I’m considering a
graduate program somewhere so that I might obtain a real degree,
but I will figure out the details some other day!
I’m really good at
I hate complimenting myself, so I wouldn’t dare say that I’m really
good at anything. I’m pretty good at
rollerblading, lol. But, I’m
getting old, ya know. My creaky knees don’t like to skate like they
used to! I’d say that I’m really good at listening… and kissing.
Hah. Unfortunately, I don’t get the opportunity to do either of
those things as regularly as I’d like!
I also think I’m pretty good at learning, never mind that it took
me 53 years to graduate with a degree in nothing. Formal education
notwithstanding, I consider myself to be a smart fella. Thanks,
mom!
The first things people usually notice about me
You’d probably have to ask “people” what they first notice about
me. The last survey I did of other peoples’ perceptions was years
ago, so I’m sure that the results are no longer valid.
The first thing I notice about myself each morning would be the
lines creeping in around my eyes. Damn you, aging. Each day I
realize that I’m getting closer and closer to finally having to
admit that I’m grown up. *sigh* Booooooo. Boo, I say.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I really think it’s hard to decide on a favorite book or a favorite
movie, or even a favorite song or genre of music. I think art and
entertainment are really reliant on my mood. Let’s face it, folks –
I have more mood swings than a teenage girl. So, I’d have to say
that I have too many favorites to list.
If I had to pick one book – you’ll laugh – but my favorite book of
all time is
The Lost World:
Jurassic Park. It’s not that the content was spectacular, but
it’s the first hardcover book that I ever purchased with my own
money. I remember being so excited when I found out that there was
a sequel, lol. It was amazing. I had just started high school and
had never been a serious reader, but it started a phase of novel
reading for which I am forever thankful.
My favorite movie, if I am forced to pick, would have to be
The
Silence of the Lambs. What an amazing story – which I had first
read. I remember being fascinated by Anthony Hopkins, and the
entire world that was captured on screen. Watching it back now, I’m
not as affected; but it will always hold those memories – those
initial impressions.
As for music – I like it all… country, rap, musicals, Disney,
instrumental. Again, it all falls to my mood. As I type this, I’m
listening to “Amanda” by
Aisha Duo from the jazz album Quiet
Songs. No words – just music. It’s kind of elevator music-y, but
hey. Don’t you judge me, stranger!
Food. Oh, how I love food. I’m trying to move away from my fried
food love and move toward a healthier diet, but it’s so hard! The
only style of food I really don’t like is Mexican, though I can
work it out if necessary. I love spicy food, so I’m not really sure
why Mexican doesn’t do anything for me. *shrug* It happens, I
suppose.
The six things I could never do without
Every time I rewrite this list, I always put a computer. But my
computer broke a while back, and it took Best Buy a zillion years
to get it back to me. I learned that I *can* live without a
computer, though it drove me crazy. So, it gets an honorable
mention!
Picking six things, I’d say:
1. Music – it’s a connection to who I am. I loves it.
2. Wind – Wind makes me feel alive. How very “witch” of me,
eh?
3. Conversation – I need the interaction of other people to
survive. I’d die on a deserted island!
4. Ice water - Mmmmm.
5. Moonlight – Much like the wind, there’s something about the moon
that makes me feel ok inside.
6. Toothpaste – Yep.
I’m not including my friends or family in this list, as they are
not “things.” They are, of course, the most important part of my
life, and they would be mad if I started listing them out on some
internet dating site!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Honestly (and I’ll feel lame later for typing this), I’ve been
spending a lot of time lately thinking about my future. My future,
meaning romantically… life-ly. Like – thinking about how I’m really
ready to settle down and be happy.
I know a lot of people who read this are looking for something
casual, and I truly, honestly wish you the best of luck and all of
the happiness in the world. But that is not what I want. I’m ready
to love and to be loved…
See, I already feel lame!
On a typical Friday night I am
What’s a “typical” Friday night, eh? On most Friday nights, I am
either at a movie, at “the” bar, or at home wondering why I’m at
home. I don’t really like to go out, but until I have a reason to
stay home, I tend to spend my weekends socializing with the common
folk over a beer or two. I long for the day where I have someone to
keep me company on my couch – that would be Heavenly. lol
I’m not going to lie though. Last Friday night, I sat home and
watched like 11 episodes of
Star Trek: Voyager. Yep.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I like the taste of my own blood. O_o
You should message me if
If you made it all the way to the bottom of this profile and you
are still CONSIDERING messaging me, then I think you might as

Even if I hate you, I’ll enjoy laughing at you. :) Just kidding…
