Recently retired from many years as an elementary school counselor
and now really enjoying getting to choose how I spend my time. I
have the luck to be a part of several singing groups and its a good
thing. If I were to attend as an audience member my luck would have
it that I fell asleep and started to snore. Thankfully being a
participant keeps me awake and on my toes.
I have lived on my own now for several years and although I am
proficient at taking care of myself my druthers would be to live in
partnership with a woman. I find an old saying, loosely lifted,
goes something like this... Happiness shared is twice the joy and
sadness shared is half the pain. Seems apt and to the point.
I am warm, gentle, and adventurous.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently learning how to play and exploring to find out what I
want to learn. Finding ways to laugh as often as possible with out
being pollyannish. Just bought a new iMac and I am attending
sessions that hopefully will bring me more to the era of
electronics. I am enjoying getting to garden, there's nothing quite
like fresh produce right out the door beckoning me to graze. Trying
to get to the pool consistently for the exercise, I would love to
partner with someone who enjoyed flat water kayaking and a host of
other interests and open to learning some of another's passions. I
would love to go visit hot springs throughout the west and Canada.
I’m really good at
I tend towards being a generalist. By that I mean I am pretty good
at a number of things but not really expert on any one area. I have
dabbled at such things as rockhounding and tumbling, beachcombing,
skin and scuba diving, stonescaping, gardening. I love to sing and
feel lucky to sing with the groups I am part of. Reading,
traveling, & working on improving my Spanish are all goals and
open to adding much more to the picture.
The first things people usually notice about me
I hope its not the glare of light off my forehead given my receding
hairline. If I'm lucky its the grin and impish look in my eyes, but
who knows maybe others think I'm squinting to see better. Now that
Mr. Obama has made prominent ears back in vogue, maybe its my ears,
you'll have to ask them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The list is longer than this space is big and you'd be long since
bored. I think I'll pass on anchovies and I used to say rutabegas
but roasted root veggies can be down right tasty. Not into country
twang, heavy metal, or anything that taxes my ears. Elmore Leonard,
Jonathan and Faye Kellerman, John Sandford, Ursula LeGuin, Clifford
Simak, Ken Follet, Dick Francis, and many other fictional writers.
Enjoy non fiction as well. Most probably too much television
especially when even with all those channels there is still and
often nothing on. I enjoy a wide array of films as well
The six things I could never do without
My son and his family, love, affection, touch, good sex and
sensuality, humor, novelty, agate laden beaches, almost anything
with lemon and berries, dark chocolate and raspberry infused
coffee, wide panoramas and electrical storms, sun drenched days,
good company, great potlucks, laughing, good music, colorful and
vibrant art, difference, uh-oh, I guess I went way past six.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The state of the world and what it will be like for my
On a typical Friday night I am
Possibly out doing one of many things or home. Hard to say when one
can be footloose and fancyfree. Being retired and not too heavily
in debt allows one to be a bit more unpredictable.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For such privacy to be put on display.....aaahhhhhhh you'll have to
make contact first.
You should message me if
any part, or more, strikes a responsive chord with you, why then
reach out, who knows where it might lead, you never can tell.
