What I’m doing with my life
My career brings me much joy and fulfillment. I spend part of my time in a community health centre and the other part with critically ill and premature babies. I strangely love the dichotomy.

The shift work is brutal with crazy hours, but it ultimately leaves me with loads of time for hiking in the Gatineau Hills, biking around town, growing veggies and yoga. I'll make any excuse to be outside. My hope for this summer is to win the war with squirrels waged in my garden, spend lots of time at Meech beach and maybe learn to rock climb.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm currently enjoying "Far from the Tree" by Solomon. It is challenging my ideas of identity and disability and what it is to appreciate and support diversity. Past favourites include: "The Book Thief" by Zusak, "Hope: A Tragedy" by Auslander, sarcastic and hilarious, "Weep Not, Child" by Njoroge, "Stranger Music" by Cohen, "Partner to the Poor" by Farmer and "Becoming Human" by Vanier.

I'm a self-admitted CBC junkie, also I recently discovered the This American Life podcast and have developed a new obsession. But when it's not the radio, I'm usually listening to Caribou, Alabama Shakes, The Burning Hell, The Black Keys, Belle Orchestre, Plants and Animals, Nina Simone, Julie Doiron, Elliot Smith, Nick Drake and Chad Van Gaalen. I just rediscovered Talib Kweli - so good. I love a good live music show - is there anything better?
The six things I could never do without
1. My amazing friends and family
2. My beautiful red bike
3. Passion
4. Music and a constant flow of it
5. The CBC - please Mr. Harper, don't take it away
6. Hope
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Medical Ethics. This course fills my head with questions of how health care decisions are made and who get access to care and who doesn't. How the health care system is structured reflects what (and whom) is valued in society. I can't say I always agree.
