i pose this question in my profile, hopin someone might be willing, encouraged, overwhelmed to contemplate the answer and provide me with an explanation. but no such luck other than a quick yes or no answer. only two women that i regularly converse with have slightly enlightened me on their perception of the answer. i have this question added to the bazillion of other questions we are forced to answer so that OTHERS may have a glimpse of what is inside us. i believe this question is one of the deepest spiritual, soul searching questions to be asked. and i ask again

i dont know which one i wanna be at this time. i've always had a thing about numbers!! and math was about the only class i actually went to in high school. but as of late, the numbers in my life just dont seem to add up the way i'd wish they would. the Beatles said it best!!

back in SA, 'bout to go back to Naw'Leans. almost time to face some "legal issues", of the criminal kind. not where i wanted to be. que'sara'sara' time to go idle, have a rockin good time

its actually a nice day here in the land of Mardi Gras, Sin City. sittin in the upstairs window watchin traffic crawl at an average of 20-25mph headed west out of the city. i'm stayin. i came here with next to nothing and if i leave with anything at all, it'll be the three "C's" - my computer, car collection, and clothes. ok, 4 C's. cant forget the cannabis. i came here for a reason. and its to soon to run elsewhere. after the storm passes i'll be doin SOMETHING to help any "hold-outs" like myself. if i dont go back to my regular job right away, i'll spend the next week or so makin $15-20/hr doin some kinda catering. my roommate left on his Sportster about 2 1/2 hours ago. called me from Lafayette with a nice oil leak i suggest he come home. and not continue to S.A. losin oil pressure. i hope he listens. i know his daughter's water just broke and she's in labor. but ruinin a re-built, bored out 883 to a 1200 aint worth it. he's waited three months for his bike and vacation time.

never woulda thought i'd be callin him gramps before I became one myself. shoulda known better

the calouses are finally starting to form, again. what once was the soft flesh of my hands is drying and peeling off and the
tougher, rougher skin below is surfacing.

lets see, whats happened this week!?!??!

welp, monday was a good day at work. my "lead man" Nato, who
barely speaks English comes up to me and sez "migo, i like you,
you talk me, i talk you. you good hard worker. i talk to boss
insi. tell him he ask me "why isnt the new guy welding?? soon we start yob. chigos han rails. i need you weld, todo todo weld all de tim. i tell boss you mui Mucho Good worker, you smart
guy. in two three weeks we start dis yob chansa you get chingos
more money. i left work with my head a lil higher in the
clouds. and i didnt even need some weed to get there.

Tuesday. Nato had to go out into the field and help one of the
install crews. i got asked to make a double door Guard frame.
real simple, so simple i screwed da pooch on it, twice. but not
bad. easily fixed. no one knows 8) helped the welder lay-out
and straghten out a couple short Pipe rail Runs late in the
day, easy day. dirty, but easy. the shop/field superevisor
took some time to show how the "hard cards" work and all the stages all the jobs are in. pretty simple system. people keep
talkin about "we need a shop foreman!! Nato is a good leadman,
but we also need a good foreman. we've gone thru 6 since after Katrina." should i "strive for it"??i dont wanna come in to
work and jump all the employees that have been there longer and
take control of how they do things. aint happenin. not anytime
soon.

today i was able to show off my of my "talents" in steel/iron
workin. gots to hand grind the welds off the two rails i helped
fit yesterday. boy does that kid know how to muck up a bead. no
two were a like. i've blow boggers out my nose that hit with
the same pattern. and LOOKED better. a bit more good news
today. after watchin one of the field crews load up a small
enclosed trail with thier tools i found out today that the
welder may be leavin. his dad is on that crew, and he (the kid)
got an offer to get his old job back in Meatchicken makin 22.50
an hour at 23yrs old. puttin in his two weeks. no one in the
shop likes the kid. he arrogant & defiant. always sayin how "that not how my dad likes it" or "does it". your dad dont
sign my check.

anyway. i get home to day and first thing outta my roomies
mouth is "you work Saturday"
"i work what saturday??"
" Da SAINTS GAME!! First home game of the preason"
"PHUQIN A!!!"
"you also work next saturday at the LSU game, and then the after party at the Frat House. and then again Sunday for the Saints"

welp, i fit in like Flinn. so far, i havent welded yet. been pretty much just cuttin and preppin parts. think the largest thing i've cut was a 1"x2"x3/16"x20' piece of tubing down to 91". heaviest thing i've carried was probably 40-50lbs. PAPER WEIGHTS!!!!. i'm runnin circles around this shop and gettin shit done for the fitters and welders. i'm always askin "QUE MAS??" what else?? my "lead man" doesnt speak very good english (hispanic). but everyone else in the shop, including me, are ANGLO!!! :shock: even the guys that do the installing out "in the field". and they're all suprised i speak spanish and are HAPPY about it!! :shock: . they finally have a TRANSLATOR 8) . i may even ask for "compensasion for my ability". still havent been told if i'm makin $10/hr as a shop hand or $12/hr knowin i'll be weldin soon when this big job kicks off and just gettin things ready. either way, i'll take it. oh, and they fired "mr slow-un-motivated" and paid him thru today, he wont be back and someone hasta fill his area. he works pre-paint prep. i like pre-fab prep. i hope they dont pick me cuz i WANNA WELD!!! all-in-all i like it. no 'uniform reqiurement" so i'll be goin to work in tank tops and shorts. its kinda funny cuz out in the shop yard behind the building is a small "trailer park". the boss lives next door(outside the fence). the shop supervisor rents half his "double wide shotgun shack" and three of the guys have 5th wheel travel trailers hooked up inside the yard. dont think i could handle that. i couldnt wake up, get ready for work, open the door and as soon as my feet hit the ground i was AT WORK!!!! dont even hafta go THRU THE GATE, just walk in the building which the trailer is backed up too. :shock: lookin forward to that first check and glad it'll be a FULL check and not some partial week. anyway. time to get the rest of the grime off. i'm startin to itch......
