My self-summary
I moved to Maryland ~2 years ago from my hometown in Kentucky, where I attended school during my undergraduate years. Since then, I've learned to love the DMV area, especially DC with all of its museums and monuments. The thing I probably value most in a person is their independence. I like people who go out and do something purely for their own reasons and not for anyone else.

My education is very important to me, so I'm not actively on OkCupid much because I get busy. If you want to talk, then send me a message (must include at least an entire sentence...I ignore one word "Hey" messages). Also, please type out full words. We're not in middle school any more people. "lol" and other similar acronyms are fine but abbreviating every other word speaks more to your intelligence level than anything else. Have enough self-respect to use full words.

I am currently going for my PhD in Computer Science. As far as outdoor activities are concerned, I am a huge fan of kayaking, however I'm more like a bear during the winter time. I just haven't found the right winter activity to get into. I ride my bike almost every day when it's warm outside. As far as my personality is concerned, I like to think I'm open about trying new things at least once. I'm somewhere in between a type A and B personality. I love plans, but life is full of twists and turns, so I don't freak out when plans change. You just have to to roll with the punches sometimes. I would classify myself as an introvert but not in the weird isolated way some people think of when hearing "introvert". I can talk on just about any topic you want, so it's never an issue for me to find something to discuss in those awkward situations when no one wants to talk. Of course, if you just want to sit and stare at each other, I can do that pretty well too.

When looking at other OK profiles on here, I'm probably one of the rare people who actually read the profile first vs. just looking at photo's. I love to hear what other people are doing in this big thing we call life.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make it back to my apartment every day without getting mugged, shanked, or murdered...oh and going to graduate school.
I’m really good at
Listening...also, I can fix just about any computer problem you can get.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently, I look 6-8 years younger than I really am. I was just mistaken for being a high schooler this past Christmas. I've had $1800 in penalty fees waived at the airport because of my youngishness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I don't get much time to read recreationally, to be honest. Between classes and research, most of my reading consists of textbooks and research papers, so that still counts, right?

TV: The Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, Marvel's Agents of Shield, Law & Order, NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, Haven, and Archer

Music: Pretty much anything except rap. I don't care too much for country music, however it's okay on an occasional basis. Techno/House music is great to get lost in when programming so I tend to listen to that when coding. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Mumford & Sons.

Food: I do a lot of my own cooking, so I don't eat out much (once a week if I'm lucky). I used to be completely vegetarian (7 years) but now I'm ~90% vegetarian. The only meat I eat is chicken, for protein purposes.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order
1) family
2) friends
3) comfortable shoes
4) internet access
5) computer
6) car

Family is pretty important. At the end of the day, you should always be able to rely on family to be there, no matter what. Another important thing is shoes. Haha just think about it...the difference between a good day and a bad day can all be determined by whether you have a good pair of shoes.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The general "what I want out of my life" always applies here, but since I'm in grad school, a lot of time is spent on pondering research questions. I also play the stock market, so I'm always learning about new investment ideas.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out stalking people...ok, I'm kidding about that. When it's warm out, I normally go out for a walk around some lakes that I live by. During the cold months, I stay in, relax, grab a bottle of wine, and watch a movie or something. I'm not the bar hopping type, so that's one thing I don't do. It's cool to hang out at bars on occasion when there's a group of friends around.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It's not really a secret but I am a twin.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–26
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You didn't fall asleep reading everything else (I can talk a long time if you get me started).

I'm looking for both friends and (hopefully) a relationship with someone. Ideally I would rather hang out with someone who is out of undergrad or almost finished. I've had enough of the undergraduate lifestyle to last for awhile.

I don't trust most people, so I would probably want to get to know you through email for a bit before meeting in person. There are all kinds of crazy people out there and I just want to make sure you're not one of them.

My biggest pet peeve is people who don't treat others equally. I think all people should be treated equally (no matter race, color, ethnicity, sexual preference, looks, etc.) and if you're not on the same page as I am, I really don't want to waste my time convincing you how retrogressive your attitude on life is.
