I’m a Southerner who recently moved to DC to start law school. I love living in a city that manages to be both urban and green, but can also appreciate my hometown where I’m always running into someone I know.
I stay physically active and social in my free time: running outdoors, exploring DC’s restaurants and neighborhoods, worshiping with my church community, and visiting family and friends back home during my breaks.
I tend to be a night owl, but am trying to make myself into a morning person. So far, I haven’t been successful.

I’m currently finishing up law school. I previously worked with refugees at a non-profit.
In my free time, I like to be out and social with friends, and am always up for meeting new people and engaging in conversation.

Books: I love to read, but leisure reading fell by the wayside during my first year of law school. Authors: Jhumpa Lahiri (The Namesake, Unaccustomed Earth) and Henri Nouwen. Some all-time favorite books: Blue Clay People: Seasons on Africa’s Fragile Edge; Strength in what Remains; The Rule of Four.

Movies: I’m not a huge movie-watcher. In fact, I have probably seen the least number of movies of any person you know. That said, my tastes tend toward the quirky and humorous with a bit of dark side (Sordid Lives, Best in Show, Clueless), musicals (Rent, Everyone Says I Love You, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) or films about migration (Amreeka, The Visitor). All-time favorite would have to be Pride and Prejudice (BBC version) (which fits into none of the above categories, I know).

Shows: My all-time favorite TV show is Alias. Bonus points to anyone who loves this show! Currently watching Glee, the Office, Desperate Housewives and Modern Family.

Music: hip-hop/R&B/soul/gospel/funk/country/blues.

Food: Mostly veggie. I especially love Asian (Vietnamese, Nepali, Indian, Thai), Ethiopian and Middle Eastern cuisine. I love cooking and baking for groups and parties, not so much just for myself :)

Ways to use my legal education to help those who lack access to justice. How much I miss singing with the gospel/funk/R&B/soul worship band at my former church. Ways to build social capital in a transient urban environment like DC. How many fun and free DC-area activities I can squeeze into this summer.

Out and socializing- heading out to happy hour with friends, maybe heading out with a smaller group afterwards for dinner, live music or dancing.

There’s a lot of useless college basketball and pop culture trivia floating around in my brain.

You are a practicing Christian. You can engage in both witty and intelligent conversation. You are living a life/have a career focused on the welfare of others. You like to stay active. You are confident and ambitious but don’t take yourself too seriously.
