I am artistic, analytical, and introverted.
My Self-Summary
I've been back here for about a year since moving out of my college
town but haven't gotten to know anyone or explore the city
much.
I spent most of the past year focused on my job and my art and
dwelling on the past and it really drove me nuts after a while, so
I decided it's time to get out, make some friends, and go on some
dates. So, I ended up here at a friend's recommendation.
What I’m doing with my life
My main passion is my artwork. I like to take long drives out into
the country and paint, shoot photos, and enjoy the outdoors. I'm
working on selling my work and getting it into galleries and my
dream is to one day make my artwork my full time job.
I also work as a production assistant for a magazine publishing
company doing a mix of web and graphics work, photo retouching,
writing, and other miscellaneous stuff.
I’m really good at
Drawing, painting, writing, photography, being (over)analytical,
constructive criticism, talking people through their problems,
videogames, kissing (or so I'm told)
The first things people usually notice about me
People always say I look like some random celebrity or musician. I
have been compared to everyone from James Dean to Johny Cash,
Elvis, Morrissey, Patrick Swayze, John Travolta, John Lennon, Bob
Dylan, Clint Eastwood, Kramer and Harold Ramis.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
To be honest I don't think I've ever been exposed to the right
material to develop a great enthusiasm for novels, but I'm open to
suggestions. Some stuff that stands out to me of late is Ender's
Game, Speaker for the Dead, a Prayer for Owen Meany...I read a lot
of informational stuff... last book I picked up was an intro to
synthesizers.
I don't play favorites too much with movies because I don't care to
watch a movie multiple times... I watch it once, enjoy it, and move
on.
Some recent movies I enjoyed are: Mad Dog and Glory, The Departed,
Little Children, and, rather surprisingly...the original Planet of
the Apes. I do have a soft spot for some of the all-time great
sci-fi movies, i.e. 2001 Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, and Alien. I
had a huge childhood obsession with Ghostbusters.
I like bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths, The Sundays,
early U2, the Ocean Blue, David Sylvian, Aphex Twin, Luke Vibert,
LTJ Bukem, Susumu Yokota, Future Sound of London, Brian Eno,
Recoil, Ulrich Schnause...basically a mix of alternative, indie,
electronica, ambient, industrial, drum and bass, jazz
house...really anything with a unique sound.
I pretty much have the taste of a 10 year old. Pizza, chicken,
steak, bacon, spinach, Annie's mac and cheese, caesar salad,
Guinness, white russians, chocolate shakes...
Anything that has a sauce is amazing. Vodka sauce, wine sauce,
marsala sauce, cream sauce, satay sauce, padthai sauce, buffalo
sauce, vinaigrette, that spicy olive oil stuff...I love garlic, but
I tend to avoid it for the sake of those around me.
The six things I could never do without
I waste tons of my money on Starbucks iced mochas...it's become the
only sustenance I can stomach first thing in the morning.
I'm totally reliant on the internet to keep in touch with friends,
entertain myself with blogs and random shit, find new music.
Between my publishing job and the photo reference I use for my
paintings, I couldn't get any work done without a computer.
I've worn nothing on my feet besides black docs or sketchers since
6th grade, it's just what I do. Unfortunately, they tend to drop me
on my ass when the soles get worn smooth and it gets icey
out.
Were it not for my HD-280 headphones I would probably go deaf
cranking my music up to drown out the outside world.
I am missing a social impulse, so were it not for those few
obnoxiously outgoing friends of mine going out of their way to bug
me every now and then, I probably would have lost myself in a cave
and forgotten about the rest of the world some time ago.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately, how to meet interesting people, because my social life has
been mind-numbingly boring and devoid.
On a typical Friday night I am
My schedule isn't really that regulated.
On any given Friday I could be out with someone at a bar in the
city, or I could relaxing at my friend's house in the mountains in
the middle of nowhere. Or I could just be at home alone watching a
movie, listening to music, or working on something creative.
I value my friends, but I don't need to get shitfaced every weekend
to feel good about myself.
You should message me if
Right now I could use friends as much or more than dates. I'm
basically just looking for people to hang out with, and if things
jive and it turns into a relationship, then cool, if not, it's just
as well. I'm not looking for random hookups, nor am I looking to
jump into a serious relationship overnight. If you think we share
some interests let me know and we'll see where it goes (if
anywhere).
