I'm a rural NW Pennsylvania Scottish and Irish country boy. I am proud of all aspects of my heritage. The motto of my Scottish clan is Fortis et Fidis which means Strong and Loyal. Unwittingly, I have been modeled and tried to live that out my entire life.
I am kind, generous, thoughtful, and sweet. I bring flowers for no reason, just because I like them. I try to let those I care about now it through words and actions. I appreciate it, when someone notices I'm doing that.
With all that being said, I love to laugh and make others laugh. I was recently told by one of the teenagers I work with, "You make me laugh, even at 4:30am when I want to punch everyone in the face." I took it as a compliment. I am a teaser and a joker and I take it as good as I give it. I have no problem making a fool of myself, once I have gotten to know everyone in a group, and, for some unknown reason, when a woman teases me, my heart melts. I will be loud and have everyone laughing, but afterward I need to time to recharge. I am a social introvert...yet that is a real thing.
I live my life by the principle of loving my neighbor. I believe love means being nonjudgmental, but real love also means, when a relationship is built, telling someone that their actions are creating great harm to them and others if they are really being harmful. I believe in the importance of social justice and we all need to listen to those without a voice, for their whispers when given proper weight can shatter mountains. (I am also a wannabe writer.) To those who are religious, I am often seen as unreligious. To those who are not religious I seem religious. The bottom line is this: I have core values that I try my hardest to live out in all my life and relationships and those values have less to do with following a set of rules than they have to do with how I treat others regardless of who they are.
I love being outside and hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, getting sweaty and working out. I am also a giant nerd. I love to debate philosophy, politics, the topic of the day, and, be prepared, because I will switch sides and play devil's advocate all the time.
I am highly adaptable and highly fluid. I let the world be what it is, and I strive to make it better. I want to see all points of view and hear the stories of others. I thrive on challenge and anything that will make me grow as a person and I most alive and myself when I am helping other people do that.
So here is what I am looking for:
I am looking for a woman of character. Someone who shares my values of making the world a better place and loving their neighbor, who live a life full of grace and compassion to others. I have found for whatever reason, that I click more with people who don't identify as Christian but who live out these virtues.
I am also looking for someone who loves to laugh and joke, who doesn't mind letting their hair down, and isn't offended by a coarse joke or two, and grabbing a beer or scotch, but who is over the need to get pissed (pissed in the sense of being drunk) every time they go out. If you can dish out the jokes and teasing, and love getting it in return even better.
I am most attracted to the hidden brainiac girls, who are crazy smart, a little artsy, with a dash of sweet and hint of some rough edges.
Is this you?
