I am easygoing, punny, and listening to music.

My Self-Summary

I like to hang out with new people. I like to talk to strangers. Sometimes I take candy from them. I like finding adventures in places I've never been before.

I love to cook. I think I'm pretty good at it, and I love trying out new foods I've never had before. If you like to eat and try new things, we would probably have a ton of fun in the kitchen basically every night.

I love to watch live music. A lot. I will travel great distances to do so, and put myself in positions to see bands I've never even heard before because music is almost always better when it's live.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a graduate student at Iowa State University. I'm going for my PhD in Mathematics, so hopefully someday I'll be able to live comfortably.

Also, I brew beer a lot. I love it.

I’m really good at

I like to think I'm good at mathematics. I'm better at listening to music all day long.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably my eyes. That and the fact that I'm usually drinking homebrew.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

As for books, I like most well-written novels and biographies. I particularly like Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis. I've also read a few graphic novels. Stuff by Neil Gaiman is awesome.

For movies, I prefer to stick to ones that will pull me into a complex story, but I'll always go for almost anything. Netflix has become my religion.

The music I listen to is all over the place. I can't possibly list everything here, but "older" bands I like include Joy Division, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Velvet Underground and Led Zeppelin. Newer bands I've been loving as of late are Great Northern, Amanda Palmer, Calvin Harris, Annuals, Ra Ra Riot, and The Whip.

I'm currently obsessed with risotto.

The six things I could never do without

Really, there are five things in my life that I care about, by which I mean things that I know I will always enjoy even if I'm in a bad mood. They are:

Live Music
Drugs (includes alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, for those of you who don't understand what "drugs" are)
Sex
Food
Traveling

If I have to put a sixth thing in there, I'm going to go with "meeting new people", but I kind of include that in "traveling".

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Mathematics and ways to brew award-winning beer. I'm also thinking of ways to go traveling cheaply.

On a typical Friday night I am

Drinking, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing.

You should message me if

You feel like talking. I'm up for almost anything.
