I'm a musician. It's not what I do for a living but it is one of
the things I do. Mostly, these days, being a musician involves
learning new pieces on my classical guitar. I also practice a
martial art called
Aikido. I've been doing that for six
years now and love it. I like to
dance of the swing and salsa variety,
although I am a bit rusty. I haven't been out
dancing in a while but I'd be down
with knocking some of that rust off. I'm always in the mood to get
out into nature whether it's
hiking or
camping or some other
outdoor activity. I like
biking, taking in
cultural
activities, and much more. I'm trying to learn spanish but I
think I'd be much better off if I could just live in a country
where spanish is the spoken language.
In terms of personality, I'm pretty easy going and relaxed. Things
usually roll off my back pretty easily. I tend to be pretty quiet
until I know you a little better. I like to laugh and I can be
funny myself, though I'm not a joke teller. My humour is often
silly and goofy, but it occasionally has an intellectual bent to
it.
I think that's enough to start. If you want to know more, please
ask.
I'm preparing for a graduate school audition for one. Music has
always been a great love of mine, so now I'm going to get a masters
so I can teach. What that means is that when I'm not working at my
job I'm sitting behind a music stand reading dots and lines. There
are other things I do, however. I can be found at the dojo
practicing martial arts a few days a week and I do find time to get
out with friends.
Pretty much anything I set my mind too.
Most people I know tell me that they perceive me as being very
peaceful and easy going. I don't know if that's the first thing
they notice, that's just what they tell me.
Admittedly my reading is sporadic. Much of the time I might spend
reading is spent working on learning or polishing pieces of music.
These days I lean more towards podcasts. On my ipod one can spy
topics that include science fiction as wall as horror short
stories, foreign language, philosophy, and atheism. Also to be
found are a number of NPR shows like This American Life and Radio
Lab.
I like movies and should see more of them. Ask me if I've seen that
movie with so and so, and that other actor and you're likely to see
a blank look on my face. I don't keep up with who is who and who is
in what. I know some of the bigs, but I do much better with
titles.
Food...? Yes! I love good food and trying new types of food. There
is very little I don't like and I will try just about anything at
least once. My favorite? Indian, without a doubt. In fact, I'm
waiting on a co-worker to give me some recipes of what is typically
cooked in homes in India (as apposed to what you get in a
restaurant). Mmmm, I can't wait.
These days, on a Friday night I can usually be found practicing
guitar. Sometimes I'll venture out to the dojo and practice aikido
for a bit.
