My self-summary
Right now I'm focused on living a happy and healthy lifestyle. Exercise and eating right are important to me. I'm looking forward to getting back to rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking, ice skating and being more active again. I'll try almost anything once and have a constant drive to learn make myself a better person than I was the day before.

I still watch my Detroit sports teams. I love hockey and wish I learned this earlier in life.

Lately I've been thinking about shifting my career back to what my degree is in so that I can live abroad if I choose. Italy and Greece are never far from my thoughts.

I find urban ruins incredibly beautiful. Might have something to do with where I grew up.

Sometimes my conversations sound like something from 30 Rock. Seriously, it's eerie that I don't write that dialogue.
What I’m doing with my life
Working in finance for the a multi-billion dollar corporation. Guess I sold out, huh. The company I work for helps the elderly and it does feel pretty good knowing that what I do helps make peoples lives better. Makes for a silver lining on those rare bad days.
I’m really good at
Keeping my friends laughing and smiling, driving - it's required in Motown, talking my way out of tickets, cooking, being there for my friends when they need it most, making origami pterodactyls.

Oh, and cooking. With the lack of a workshop or garage out here I've found that I really love cooking and baking. I fly back home for the holidays so I can make Christmas dinner for my family. Most everything is made from scratch and it takes a couple days for all the shopping, prep work, and cooking. But it's worth it!
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told I look a little like Bruce Willis and a lot of fun. Personally I would have preferred Patrick Stewart, but hey, can't snub my nose at John McClane!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Lots. Right now I'm reading The Big Nowhere, Theodore Rex, and The King in Yellow. I just finished up with the Song of Ice and Fire series and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Favorites include Good Omens, The Power of Myth, and The Black Dahlia.

Movies - I love movies! Double Indemnity, Chinatown (anything film noir), Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Casablanca, Goonies, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Better Off Dead, Seven Samurai, Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More/The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green, Shaft. I do have a guilty pleasure but I'm not saying what....

TV - Netflixed or DVR'ed episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, Arrested Development, Bob's Burgers, Conan, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, and Wilfred.

Music - Social Distortion, The Gaslight Anthem, Rise Against, The Weeks, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Iggy and The Stooges, David Bowie, The Clash, The Cure, Depeche Mode, They Promised Us Jetpacks, Two Door Cinema Club, Foster The People, The Avalanches, Bob Seger, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Michael Jackson, Prince, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, The Spinners, The Temptations, Sam Cooke. Seriously, I've stopped mid-conversation to listen to Sam Cooke if he's playing. I'll listen to just about anything depending on the mood I'm in or what I'm doing.

Food - Mediterranean. Greek, Lebanese, Italian. I love anything spicy.
The six things I could never do without
My family
The open road, my hand on the wheel and the radio up loud. If I really need to think something out, I'll road trip over the mountains for a day.
Wide open spaces
Water
Sunshine
Otters that look like Benedict Cumberbatch

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to make myself and the world better than they were the day before.

What's happening in Detroit.

How I can start a cattle ranch in the Sierra Madres.

Things I haven't done yet (surfing/sailing/high fiving a panda) or places I haven't been yet (New Orleans/Morocco/Southern France/Romania/Poland/New Zealand).
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, getting a late work out in, or working late. Lately, it's been lying low on Friday nights since I'm usually up early for hiking, skate practice, or Royal Tenenbaums racquetball.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once ran into a tree... three times... in the same day... in the same game of football. It was the only tree in a 3 acre field.

I hate that tree.
