Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
(Moving to Charleston SC in August. I'm currently in Roanoke VA.
Hopefully I can get to know some people before I arrive.)
I'm a creative artist, a computer scientist, and a business savvy
marketer all mashed into one. I have a degree in music composition,
but have spent the last 9 years working in the Information
Technology field. In July I'm leaving my IT job to pursue a handful
of business ventures with a close friend in Charleston.
So why am I here? I'm looking to meet cool new people and see what
happens. I'm also an incredibly driven individual and admittedly
somewhat of a workaholic, so meeting others online can be
convenient at times.
That said, even if I wasn't busy, the opportunity to meet new
people you may never encounter in day to day life fascinates me.
Life before the internet was a very different thing.
I've decided to stop living the safe, stable, and boring life I was
living before. The most successful people in history didn't allow
society to hold them back. I've seen far too many people give up on
their hopes and dreams only to try to pass them along to their
children. I'm not that type of person.
I often have lofty goals, but why bother otherwise?
I'm a laid back person that loves an occasional dose of chaos. I
love good stories, because without them the world would be a pretty
dull place. I like nature and the outdoors and would generally be
more happy if winter didn't exist....though snow is cool on
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm constantly learning and working to pursue a location
independent career via the internet. I want to travel the
country/world without the deadline of returning from vacation. I'm
an incredibly hard working and driven individual, but I've lost
interest in being employed by anybody other than myself.
My pursuits include:
-3d modeling and sculpting for animation (think Pixar)
-Creating online training courses for Information Technology
-Learning software development
-Photography (specifically to create HDR environments)
-Building electric guitars
-Drinking craft beer
-Exploring the world
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The process of taking something from an abstract idea that exists
only in your mind and turning it into a tangible piece of reality,
is something that never ceases to amaze me. I'm not so sure I'm
"really good at" it, but that's what I'm working toward.
Chances are I'm more than capable of fixing your computer problems
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I have a library of non-fiction books on digital art,
storytelling, business development, philosophy, and computer
programming. I tend to get my fiction fix from other mediums.
Movies: Memento (pretty much everything Christopher Nolan is
involved with). Radio, The Matrix, Seven Pounds, Ratatouille
TV: LOST, Supernatural, The Mentalist, Paranormal Witness. I tend
to favor mind bending stuff. I like family guy and south park
Comedy: Ralphie May, Dave Chappelle, Daniel Tosh
Music: I was a music student in college so this is an important
category. I'll only name a few at the top of my list lately:
Dead Letter Circus
A Perfect Circle
Alice in Chains
I generally think all food should be spicy....
Thai food is my favorite. But I love so many different types of
food: Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Southern comfort food, etc.
I really love craft beer. Breweries I like:
IPA's are my jam.
I drink way too much coffee.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-The internet (I'm hopelessly addicted to learning things)
-A creative pursuit (This is seriously part of my DNA)
-Books (I learn things from paper and ink too)
-Stories (these are at the very core of human nature)
I chose five things. I do what I want.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
-How to take over the world.
-Why humans haven't been to Mars yet.
-Cadbury Cream Eggs.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I didn't learn how to whistle or snap until way after most of my
peers did. I'm sometimes a late bloomer, but usually make up for
lost time by being a very fast learner.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
-You made it this far....there's a lot of text above this
-You can't remember the last time you were "bored".
-You're a creative person. (This really isn't essential, but it's
nice to meet like minded people)
-You understand how conversations work. This is a place for
discussions, not interviews.
For that matter, if you consider yourself an interesting person and
are passionate about something...anything. If you have drive and
motivation, I really respect that.
