My self-summary
I am originally from Connecticut. I went to school in DC and made a point to stay here after graduation. I like seeing what this city has to offer! I've done some of the typical DC activities but I am interested in so much more than just politics. I am curious and open to hearing other people's stories and perspectives.
What I’m doing with my life
I am working at a nonprofit in DC that focuses on historic preservation. I'm into nonprofit management, politics, history, international affairs, and European studies. DC is really the perfect place for me career-wise. I studied and worked in Europe for six months and I am thinking of eventually going to graduate school abroad because I liked my time there so much.

I like hearing about other people's experiences. I used to work with oral history interviews, and I think it's fascinating to hear how people have become who they are.
I’m really good at
I think that if I was born during an era when travel agencies were still relevant that I would've been a great travel agent.

Also I like beer a lot so choosing a good wheat beer, lager, or pilsner is on this list too.
The first things people usually notice about me
How petite I am...which is great for being able to squeeze onto crowded metro cars during rush hour.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Snow Falling on Cedars, The Radetzky March, The Importance of Being Earnest, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and (my childhood favorite) Number the Stars. I read far more news articles than books. I don't know what I would do without the New York Times, The Washington Post, Slate, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Economist, The Huffington Post (yes I know this is not the best news site to like), etc.

How I Met Your Mother is a great show! I like witty sitcoms (Seinfeld, The Office, 30 Rock, New Girl, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, The Mindy Project) as well as shows like Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. I also like watching Anthony Bourdain No Reservations and I'm sad that he has moved on to other shows. His sense of humor is fantastic. I used to watch a ton of Colbert and Boy Meets World.

Pride and Prejudice, When Harry Met Sally, Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers, The Pianist, Almost Famous, Love Actually, The Queen, and my favorite Disney movie is Mulan.

Classical, classic rock, current top 40, and electronic dance music are what I tend to listen to the most. The only type of music I truly dislike is country. It depends upon what I am in the mood for at a particular moment. Chopin is my favorite composer.

I like to try new restaurants and going out to eat in DC. I like Italian food the most because that's what I grew up eating a lot. I also really like Belgian and German beer, and I think that you can never go wrong with some Schnitzel.
The six things I could never do without
Family, friends, going to the beach during the summer, good food, the ability to travel occasionally, and the ability to keep up with current events.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How much better the pizza from CT is than most of the pizza in DC

How delicious Dolcezza gelato is

Why people would ever want to pay for Bud/Miller Light

Whatever I last read about in an article online

Which bus or metro line would be the best at getting where I need to go

How did people ever manage to function before cell phones?
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually out with a few friends for happy hour or dinner, or I am home relaxing after a long week, with bar nights and parties mixed in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I know this sounds terribly unsophisticated but I really do love the Harry Potter series. I have been Hermione for Halloween on two separate occasions.

Also I love Cards Against Humanity and Apples to Apples. But the inappropriate, non-politically correct humor in Cards Against Humanity is really my style.
