I'm a small town girl at heart. The simple things are most important to me though: family, friends, my pets, home and comfort.

I LOVE white water rafting, being in the sun, hanging out with friends, hearing some live music, hitting up the local festivals, taking small weekend trips, reading when I can and listening to the books I don't have time to read, playing board games, blah, blah, blah. I guess I'm not looking for a money man to wine and dine me, but for a good person who likes to hang out and who can make me laugh.

I'm not a high maintanance girl, but I do expect a certain level of respect and openess in any relationship I have. I consider myself genuine and good hearted and I am looking for the same in a man. This is a biggie - he must be able to communicate. I know it sounds simple, but you'd be surprised.

I'm not clingy, but I am affectionate. I love small kisses and holding hands. Cuddling up on the couch is a favorite. If you are able to win my heart I will give it to you and I hope you would do the same.

I am a pretty big "do-gooder". I have 2 jobs, both at non-profits, but my love is working with animals. I facilitate adoptions and what ever else they'll let me get my hands in. I also volunteer for various other organizations including taking my dog to visit seniors at an assisted living home...you get the picture.

my adorable little dog - yes he is a tiny chihuahua and yes I do sometimes carry him around in a shoulder bag (he's old), but no he isn't an accesory and I don't treat him like one. He's actually a very cool, calm, sweet little dog.....as long as you aren't under 12 yrs old, or a dog ;)

Books: i usually am drawn towards fiction and non-fiction about people with psychological issues or who face diversity....they're just more interesting than something like Nanny Diaries. Right now I am reading Sherman Alexie - Native American fiction writer. I love Augustine Burroughs - his memiors. I'm impatiently waiting for Alice Sebold's new book coming out not soon enough. Loved Family Orchard, Moonlight on the Avenue of Faith, Bonk, Sharp Objects, White Oleander.......

Movies: Again, anything about the human struggle....movies that make you think. Examples: Requiem for a Dream, Last Picture Show, Goodfellas, Donnie Darko, Punch-Drunk-Love, etc. I HATE watching a movie and feeling like it was a complete waste of my time. That being said, I LOVE some of the newer comedy like Superbad, Love You Man, etc. Feels great to laugh so hard your stomach hurts :) I HATE horror movies. Event Horizon RUINED me and since that movie all horror movies give me nightmares and bad daydreams.

Music: my favorite band is The Band. Grew up listening to my dad's music and that one stuck more than any other since. I like most everything although i lean towards actual instruments rather than digitial sounds. Sadly I don't know half of the names of the newer genres, but i like a lot of it. Classic rock, Indie,reggae, old school R&B, folk, bluegrass, I will admit that I LOVE 70's, 80's and 90's country music. There's something about a song that actually tells a story. Current favorite that I think everyone should experience: The White Buffalo - check him out!!
