My self-summary
I am particularly happy outdoors, whether it's a hike on the Dipsea trail or from the Mission to the Marina. I travel, have lived abroad, and have checklists for both a ballpark and art museums of the world checklist. I enjoy good food and wine, sports, playing pool, art, and design.

Chivalry is not dead, manners are second nature to me. I also think one shouldn't point out that one opens doors, pulls out chairs, etc., but I’ve many profiles mention "what happened to manners?" so I feel obliged.

I have a good balance between a respectable public persona and a private edge. A white collar profession with blue collar sensibilities. Am hoping to meet someone similar in that way, who is as optimistic, adventurous, and enjoys life as much as I do, and has a great sense of humor. I take humor VERY seriously.
What I’m doing with my life
Transforming a mid-century home into a relaxing eco retreat. So much potential! It's great being close to SF to keep me engaged in urban living with an assortment of wildlife in the backyard. One night on my bike I was escorted by some coyotes. Don't know who was more thrilled by it.

Professionally, I help college students get that degree with as little debt as possible, assist students and professionals in career choices, resumes, cover letters, and nailing the interview. Very rewarding, and hopefully helping them see their big, long-term economic picture.

There's a ying and yang between my serious, professional, accomplished side and the guy who goes to baseball games, concerts, plays pool, camps, enjoys the beach, and partakes in other life delights.
I’m really good at
-Writing
-Not sweating the small stuff (thank you Macbeth!)
-Traveling
-Seeing things from the opposite viewpoint
-Grilling, love the big green egg
-Humor, once had a friend laughing so hard that she yelled, "Stop it!"
-Sex and driving, because all guys think they're good at these
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor and putting people at ease, little or big. My eyes, and one woman really liked my hands. My friends describe me as “genuine,” and I guess it’s true, I’m an open book.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Tolstoy once attempted to write a day in the life of a farmer. He wrote hundreds of pages before the farmer even had breakfast. It was going to be impossible to cover every moment of the day. So is this section, from Shakespeare to current writers, far too many to list (English major).

Recent reads were "Life" by Keith Richards, Steve Jobs biography, and "Imagine: How Creativity Works" (you know, where the author admitted he made up celebrity quotes and anecdotes but rationalized that they could have said/done something like that? Ah, you crazy humans...). Just finished "Hollywood Stories," a light read.

And paging through "1,000 Places to See Before You Die." Movies, again, all over the place though I appreciate a good story more than anything. Prefer an ending with a twist over the sudden just-in-time-everyone’s-happy resolution.

I enjoy pretty much all types of music. Food, no limits. Recently found a nice web gem, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld.

Bay Area weather, even when skies aren't blue.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The big picture and the one go-around we've got. And Jimmy Durante’s song "Make Someone Happy," a nice daily reminder.
On a typical Friday night I am
There's no typical.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Great legs and a smile make me weak in the knees...
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 35–49
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You are quick-witted and not shy about knocking it out of the park when I serve you up a great straight line, knowing it comes at my expense.

You understand that sometimes a glance is worth a thousand words and have a playful side.

You like to laugh, get outdoors, enjoy road-trips, and are as comfortable lounging in the sun as wandering under a city’s night lights.

If I star you, it's not that I can't send you a nice message, nor expect you to message me first. It's about giving you a chance to check my profile and if you like, star back. I like to think of myself as a decent wordsmith, there will be entertaining messages!

Enjoy!
