I am creative, fun, and dreamy.

My Self-Summary

Let's see... I'm at a crossroads in my life, figuring out where I want to be and what I want to do. Just know it's gonna be something great.

I put myself through college working nights at UPS. Took six whole years but I graduated from the U of MN and majored in Japanese and Asian Languages and Literature. Spent 3 years teaching English in Japan after that and got back to the states last fall.

I started cardio and weight training last November and finally seeing some results. Always been skinny, but gonna make sure I stay that way while adding a little tone at the same time.

What I’m doing with my life

Work in progress.

I’m really good at

creative stuff. Been playing at game making for a while now. Haven't produced anything brag-worthy but it's fun just to make little worlds.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile? But really probably the red hair and freckles.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

BOOKS

I usually like fantasy books. And usually the lighter side these days.

Anne McCaffrey is my favorite author for her books Dragonsinger and Dragonsong in specific, and all of her Pern books in general.

Mercedes Lackey too will always hold a special place in my heart for The Last Herald-Mage triology: Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, and Magic's Price.

I recently read and enjoyed The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and found that particularly meaningful.

I've enjoyed Lovecraft in the last few years, specifically The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, At the Mountains of Madness, and Dreams in the Witch house, but I'm a fan of the mythos as a whole as well.

I also read She on a whim, and while the antiquated style made it too difficult to really sink into, I did enjoy the eponymous character and the fact that She was an inspiration for Lewis, Tolkien, and Lovecraft and helped found the lost world genre of English literature.

MOVIES

I just saw Coraline, and loved it. I'm hoping to see Up soon as well.

I loved Hairspray, Enchanted, Moulin Rouge, Gone with the Wind, Sunset Boulevard, The MST3K Movie, Porco Rosso, The Producers, They Were 11, Tokyo Godfathers, Advent Children, Labyrinth, etc...

TV

Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Desperate Housewives, Dollhouse, Family Guy, Firefly, Home Movies, Sports Night, The Venture Brothers,

MUSIC

My tastes are too eclectic to categorizes. Chances are you won't find anything from my playlist on yours.

I love A Praire Home Companion, but more for Guy Noir and The News from Lake Wobegon than anything else.

FOOD

I love asian and Chinese food: sushi, tonkatsu, yakiniku, curry, stirfries,

Also comfort foods like pizza, Lucky Charms cereal, skim milk, Nestle's Quick, etc...

Once you've willingly purchased dried squid as a snack, your pickiness regarding food pretty much vanishes. Still... I wouldn't eat abalone when it was cooked live in front of me because I thought it was cruel, and I don't like mayonnaise because it's mushy.

I've made the decision to never buy cookies, candy, etc. And the only time I even want pop is in the form of a rare rootbeer float.

The six things I could never do without

The net. When I can't access Wikipedia at whim, it's like my arms and legs have been severed.

My computer tablet and stylus which I use more than ever recently.

My cell phone, both for its capacity as a phone and for its handy Google Maps feature.

Transportation of some sort, although I wouldn't mind being in a big city where I didn't need a car.

On a typical Friday night I am

Wishing they'd hurry up and make more Dollhouse--that show was perfect!

Seriously though, I'm more of a stay home with friends guy than a go out to the clubs guy.
