I am a creator, a joker, and a student.

My Self-Summary

My name is Joe and I love a girl that can make me laugh. I'm looking for someone that enjoys doing lots of different things whether it's seeing a movie at the moxie, going to a thrift store, hiking, going to a poetry reading, etc. I'm taking an astronomy class right now--it would be fun to go stargazing somewhere away from the city before it gets too cold. Currently, I'm a senior at Missouri State University in Springfield. My major is Creative Writing/ Art and Design.
I've been exercising (running mostly) since the beginning of this past summer, and I'm now borderline fit.
I'm very non-religious, but I'm open to dating anyone who isn't overly zealous.
I draw cartoons for the MSU newspaper--I love doodling.
I'm trying to diversify my knowledge of cooking (sort of, it's a slow process).
I've never been to a sports game at MSU before, but I think I might go to one in the future.
I'm somewhat of a movie buff/snob so hide your poor taste! But honestly, I'll roll over and watch whatever if the company is of a quality sort.
I haven't been on a formal hike in a while, but I'd like to get back into it and learn what trails Springfield has to offer.

What I’m doing with my life

I apped to join the Peace Corps, but now I'm probably going to join the military after I graduate college with my wonderful Creative Writing degree. I'll do the grad school/ law school thing after that. Someday I might try to become a foreign officer in an embassy.

I’m really good at

drawing.

I can juggle!

The first things people usually notice about me

I smile too much--I don't know. I've never asked anyone what they noticed first about me. When I first meet someone, I usually take in the entire vision of them. That is unless they have some particular disfigurement. (lol) Anyway...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite Book: Watchmen
Favorite Comic: Achewood.com
Favorite Movies: The Royal Tennenbaums, There Will Be Blood, American Beauty, Silence of the Lambs, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Aviator, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Batman Begins, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Casablanca, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, The Gods Must be Crazy, Children of Men, Lawrence of Arabia, Titanic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Thank You For Smoking, The English Patient, The Truman Show, A History of Violence, The Thing, Jurassic Park, The Land Before Time, Memento, The Matrix, Natural Born Killers, Collateral, Death to Smoochy, Die Hard, Evil Dead 2, Final Destination Series (guilty pleasure), Nosferatu, Superbad, My Father's Glory, My Mother's Castle, Duck Soup, The Treasure of Sierra Madre, Citizen Kane, The Ring, Sin City, Pulp Fiction, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Laura, Taxi Driver, The Devil's Backbone, Capote, Perfume, Carlito's Way, Donnie Brasco, Borat, Schindler's List, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Bram Stoker's Dracula
(I used to get Netflix)
Music: Nine Inch Nails, Phillip Glass, Devotchka, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd
I like doughnuts a lot, but I haven't eaten any in months

The six things I could never do without

food, water, internet, a suitable atmosphere, shoes would be nice, something to look at

I could live without a lot of things.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the future, my goals, who I'll surround myself with, who I'll still be talking to, just fantasizing, laying out plot for a book

On a typical Friday night I am

Lately, I've been staying in too often, but I like going to bars, seeing shows, movies, etc.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

The only movie that has made me cry in theaters is Passion of the Christ. This is embarrassing not only because I resent religion, but also because the movie was only average.

You should message me if

you want to have a decent conversation, or if you're swimming against the apathetic current.
