My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Like most people in this area, I came to DC for work. Previously Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Georgia.

Not in any specific order: Engineer (aerospace). Foodie. Bourbon aficionado. Gentleman. If you are a fan of Myers-Briggs typing, INTJ. Because of that "I", I am fairly reserved in larger groups, but one-on-one or small groups I am fine with. I don't enjoy traffic (who does?), so I do frequent a gym with a bootcamp class after work.

Summaries are supposed to be short so... I invite you to strike up a conversation with me. I can carry on most conversations as I know at least some about a lot of topics.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am the lead engineer with an aerospace support company with an international focus. I am exploring educational opportunities to create new options in my career as well as spending a fair bit of my free time is improving my culinary skills, through both practice and learning the science.

I'm also interested in meeting new people, hence OkCupid. My friends and I are foodies and are always trying new places in the search for delicious food and tasty beverages.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening to people, tabletop games, making good food, finding good restaurants.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I read a lot; I like physical books, but I have gone digital for most reading since they necessitate a good deal of space. Selection... a good deal of sci-fi/fantasy (Sanderson, Rothfuss), but also food science, aerospace and manufacturing technology, and both sides of current events (when I can find them). Currently reading Speakeasy and the published books of The Stormlight Archive. I also listen to a few podcasts instead of the radio during my commute.

Movies depend upon my mood... I can watch any type of movie from blockbuster to Saturday night B-movies like "The FP". Horror and gore style movies are unappealing.

I cook/bake a great deal and tend to watch TV/Netflix as I do so. Shows that follow: Castle, NCIS, Orphan Black, Grimm, Strike Back, Rizzoli & Isles. Ended shows: Chuck, Firefly, Psych, Dexter.

I enjoy tabletop games. Fun and social! Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, Trivial Pursuit, etc. Food, drink, friends, gathered around a tabletop game makes for a fun evening.

I don't have any particularly favorite music; I played the saxophone from elementary school through college marching band so music is a facet of my life. Examples: big band jazz from decades ago (Charlie Parker, Glen Miller) to symphonic metal (Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian); classical (particularly piano concertos and string quartets) to rock (classic, alternative, and punk) to bands I don't know how to classify (Frightened Rabbit). I am not a big fan of rap and its sub-genres... it just doesn't resonate with me.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Bourbon (or good wine)
2) Freshly ground black pepper
3) B&N Nook
5) Mechanical pencil
6) Music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life, the universe, and everything. I enjoy discussions and debates on nearly any topic as long as we all keep open minds; unfortunately, too many people are stubborn on certain topics and it is neither stimulating nor fun.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Recently, it's been the gym followed by dinner and a movie either in or out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I nearly drowned swimming the Keeneys Rapids, which end with the ominously named "Meat Grinder" last year. Swim river left!
