My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Writing about myself always makes me feel slightly uneasy. I like to think I'm a ton of good things with a few flaws I work hard at minimizing, but then I just start sounding conceited. I digress. I do that frequently... call it a flaw.

I would say I'm rather close to being a hopeless romantic, but I don't quite cross the line. I somehow pull off being shy and outgoing at the same time. I like being somewhat goofy and making people laugh, but I know when to be serious or professional as well.

I've been told I'm a good listener and advice giver when it's needed. I'm often rather open, but there is definitely a closed portion of myself that only a lucky select few will ever see.

I like to think I'm a walking contradiction because that's about as interesting as you can get. Did I just get conceited?

I'm a big football fan. The Vols for college and Colts for Pro. I watch and keep up with the UT Vol basketball teams (Men & Women) some as well. I also pay attention to Soccer, Hockey, and NBA some as well.

*5/2/11 edit: AHEM: If you won't date an atheist or have issues with nonbelievers, please don't bother messaging me. It says Agnostic because that's how I self identify, and if you're so close minded that you wouldn't consider dating an atheist, you won't like me anyway. (Atheist and Agnostic are not much different, btw.) This does not mean "religious people need not message me" however. I like to keep an open mind about such things and only expect the same from the people around me. :-D
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Always searching for something a bit better than what I have. Not that I'm completely unhappy with my life, but I'm rarely satisfied with just "good enough" and instead I end up striving for a life to be jealous of.

Career seems to be a bit of an issue with me for the time being. I feel like I'm overeducated for a lot of the lower positions out there and underexperienced for the more prestigious positions available. This makes it tough to find the right job in my profession as nobody likes hiring overqualified and/or underexperienced. Hopefully it'll work itself out in due time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh, provided they actually have a sense of humor (and it helps if they appreciate cynical and/or smartass humor). I also am really good "with computers", which translates to "I'm a tech geek." I've gotten compliments on my writing, but I don't think I'm all that good at it. I normally just do it for me. I'm also really good at reading other people. It gets me in trouble when I'm wrong though...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm somewhat goofy. I love to hear people laugh, and I'll tell an embarrassing story about myself if it'll make someone laugh. I've also been told that my honesty stands out and can sometimes turn people off to me. Sorry, but I'll be honest when you ask a question. Don't want the honest answer? Don't ask me the question. It sometimes bothers me that I can offend people with it, but I can only be me. I truly don't like giving people the impression that I'm being mean (I never intend to be), but I refuse to flat lie to someone, even to spare their feelings. Though, I may sugarcoat certain things at times for certain people, it's rare.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I do like books and wish I had more time to read them. I love Robert Jordan's (RIP) Wheel of Time series, anything by Steve Berry, Dan Brown, and Clive Cussler. I also enjoyed the Harry Potter series. What, I don't care that it was intended for readers younger than me, it's still good!

I like all kinds of movies. I suppose you could say they are a near passion for me. I like a little from all genres, yes even a couple "chick flicks".

I'm probably even more varied on musical tastes than I am on movies. The trusty genre for me is rock however. I tend to like more of it than most other genres.

I've gotten to where I'm mostly a chicken kind of guy. I rarely crave a steak. I enjoy many different kinds of foods and always like trying something new. Italian would probably be my favorite most of the time, though it changes with my mood.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) A computer
2) The internet
3) My phone
(First 3 should probably be one thing, but I have problems coming up with things I can't do without).
4) Friends (cliche answer, but true.)
5) Family (another cliche but true. Literal and figuratively.)
6) Laughter. Everyone needs laughter in their life! Especially me. I'm fairly sure without a daily dose of genuine laughter I'd need one of those pretty white jackets where the arms wrap all the way around...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
If that light is really a camera, and I'm on some sort of weird "The John Show". No, really, I spend a lot of time contemplating everything from "how the universe started" to "how exactly do the people I so vehemently disagree with truly believe what they are saying?" I do love listening to alternate viewpoints from my own, provided I get to discuss mine in there as well. Debating is fun. Arguing is not.

I also spend quite a bit of time pondering my past. Not in a regretful manner, but to try to identify my weaknesses & flaws and become a better person. That may sound cheesy and like a line, but it really is the truth. Self discovery and progression is important to me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately it's been dealing with something at work. Barring that, I might be out having a beer with some friends and playing some pool. Or it's also entirely possible that I'm doing something with my daughter, provided she doesn't go to her aunt's or a friend's house that night. Rarely, I'll be playing the role of an old man and just be relaxing at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I admit it here, it's not really private anymore and then I'd be lying! I don't like liars. I'm normally a pretty open person, so if you really want to know something, just ask. Also, if you talk to me for more than a couple minutes, you'll probably hear something most would consider embarrassing. As long as you're laughing, I'm happy with telling ya those things though. If you want something deeper and more meaningful, well that comes with time.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You don't need me to tell you this. THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!

And you are not a psycho that has the possibility of murdering me in my sleep. Yeah, that's important too.
