And this is long, so hold on to your butts.
But seriusly, I'm not like other guys. I bet a lot of us say that but you be the judge. And I don't mean that in a try-hard, hipster kind of way. I can carry a deep conversation or a banal one and enjoy either as the situation calls for, but I usually prefer the former. I love quotes and philosophy. I feel like an old soul. Not as in yelling at kids to get off my lawn and turn down their "music", but in that I think long term and not always for my own selfish interests; I am a big picture person and not the me, here, now kind that is so common. It makes me kind of cynical but I try to maintain a cautious optimism. And I am more fun than this making me sound, just keeping it real.
I believe that humor is crucial to happiness. It is one of humanity's saving graces. I like all jokes and anything else that makes me laugh. Even puns. Especially puns. Dad jokes? Bring 'em! The cornier the better. I am always trying to cultivate laughter be it with or at me. If laughter really is medicine then I must be a pharmacist (ba dum tsh!)
I like running and hiking, and for that reason I am loving this area! I do miss the Florida beaches though. I like to play tennis, but need a partner (hint hint). I like to read books but often get distracted by Wikapedia-ing something from said books, so the pace is slow. I love to cook. Especially for other people. Not having a kitchen makes that tough these days, but it has also made me a microwave wizard. I like all foods but barbecue is my favorite. I made it a point to stop at spots in St. Louis and Kansas City on my drive here from Florida. Where are the good barbecue joints around here anyways?

Driving. Definitely driving
MOVIES: Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Action, Sci-Fi. Here are some select titles: Moon, Office Space, Idiocracy, Waiting, Waking Life, Dogma, Mel Brooks, Wayne's Worlds, Rushmore (and other Wes Anderson films), 28 Days/Weeks Later, Interview with the Vampire, Gladiator, old M. Night Shyamalan films, The Matrix, Garden State, etc, etc.
SHOWS: PBS News Hour, The Daily Show (Jon Stewart is one of my heroes, but Trevor Noah is holding it down ok), The Colbert Report (it had a good run), The Simpsons (the 90's episodes), Modern Family, SVU (yup). Futurama. Top Gear (the British version). Arrested Development. Jeopardy. Breaking Bad. I watch sports socially, but I don't park in front of SportsCenter all day.
MUSIC: Music is important to me. Another one of humanity's saving graces. I think musical taste says a lot about a person. I'm mostly into indie but I like most music. Even country, though not the new "country" that is coming out. If there is one type of music that I don't like it's dubstep. Dubstep hurts my ears more than the jet engines I spend all day around. A few of my favorite artists are Radiohead, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire. But also: Air, Billy Joel, Bobby Womack, Bon Iver, Bright Eyes, Cake, Daft Punk, Hundred Waters, My Morning Jacket, Nujabes, Phoenix, The Postal Service, The Roots, Rush, Spoon, Tom Petty, A Tribe Called Quest, TV On The Radio, Vampire Weekend, 311, and many many more...
GAMES: Mario Kart 64, Starcraft, Minesweeper. Pictionary, Scrabble, Monopoly, and I'm always down for a good game of spades. Tonk and Casino are also fun.
FOOD: BBQ. And everything else really.
also Black coffee
