My self-summary
I grew up in Boston, spent 5 years in New Orleans and a year in Paris. Now I live in Dallas, which has been a bit of an adjustment, but I'm beginning to like this city. It may be due to the food... or the bar-to-population ratio...

I really like living in the south. Partly for the people and partly because I really hate living in snowy areas. I also hate the cold. I much prefer it to be 75 in February than -2. But I still love my collection of winter coats and hats.

My goal in life is to live on every continent. I've only been to 3 so far, but I'm getting there. I might skip Antarctica though, because really, who goes to Antarctica? There aren't even polar bears.

Otherwise, I love to travel, listen to music, watch movies, dance around in department stores, explore new places, spend far too much time watching movie trailers on Hulu, break out into song, go barefoot, swing (on swing-sets), and generally enjoy all life has to offer. I'm pretty simple that way...

Also, I'm fascinated by the personality charts on people's profiles. If you've never looked you should start. That is all...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in grad school for anthropology. It's a tough life, but I really like what I do. Eventually I'd like to become a professor, but right now I have a 6(10?) year plan that culminates in a 300 page dissertation and a PhD. Past that, the world is my oyster (appropriate proverb?). At the moment I'm just enjoying my summer field research in French Polynesia, as well as my soon to be extensive knowledge of world cultures :)
I’m really good at
Math, which does no good for my future as an anthropologist.
I'm a pretty good judge of character, and an excellent listener.
I'm super good at fixing things and assembling IKEA furniture. I think I got that trait from my dad.
The first things people usually notice about me
People often notice my sense of humor. I find humor in everyday situations, and am often unintentionally funny. Or so I've been told...

Oh, and also... at 5'10" I'm kinda on the tall side. And most of my friends are not. So people notice that too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books - there are a lot. top 10? Brave New World, The Hunger Games Trilogy (yea it's three books, shut up), Shelter Blues, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Sweetness and Power, I Am Charlotte Simmons, and Slaughterhouse 5, The Pastoral Clinic, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and Into the Wild.

Movies - people laugh at my movie collection. It includes Son In Law, Boondock Saints, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Jeux D'Enfants, Eurotrip, and Clueless. And I tend to watch those 6 the most...
I also really like independent films I find randomly on Netflix on Demand. And Disney animated movies. Especially Oliver and Company.

Music - Not even going to get into this one. Right now my ipod loops Mumford and Sons, Vampire Weekend, Frank Turner, Fun., and The Black Keys. But that's just this week... I'm also really into classic rock, jam bands, and pretty much anything live (Wareen Haynes = Amahzing).

Shows - I watch a lot of NCIS, and have recently become addicted to Criminal Minds. I also watched a marathon of Star Trek TNG the other day. And I occasionally watch Top Chef marathons. Pretty much anything that comes in a marathon on my day off is good for me :) (And ABC Family dramas. So Sad Greek is over...)
The six things I could never do without
1. Wikipedia/IMDb
2. Deadlines
3. A stack of books
4. My phone
5. Ellipses...
6. Adventure
I spend a lot of time thinking about
anthropology, society, political economy, international relations, personal and social identities, oxford commas, British vs. American uses of z and s, proustian moments... coffee... and shopping.

*Late one night, a doctor removes the brain of a Mr. Brown and puts it into the skull/body of a Mr. Johnson, thus making a "Mr. Brownson."
- Upon waking up, whose wife does Mr. Brownson return to? Mrs. Johnson, who recognizes his physical identity, or Mrs. Brown the one he loves and his mind's soul mate?
- If Mr. Brown was an avid dancer and Mr. Johnson a pudgy uncoordinated couch potato, will Mr. Brownson have two left feet?

On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends having drinks or going to a movie. Or sometimes I'm at the rock climbing gym. But only if it's been a really bad week.

And if we're being honest here, a lot of the time on Friday nights I am in my apartment, doing homework and catching up on reading (by which I mean watching HIMYM reruns with my roommate while drinking champagne. We're classy like that)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm afraid of the dark. Literally.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 22–34
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
you like to laugh and have a good time, and you're as comfortable in sweatpants on the couch as you are out on a Friday night...
Also, if you habitually wear chucks, bow ties, or sweater vests (in ernest, not irony), you get extra points :)

Or if you found something particularly interesting in my profile, or if you have a comment on one of my answers to the personality questions... I don't know, just don't be creepy. I tend not to answer messages that only say "hey beautiful" :)
