My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to read more about me.

Although I did the online dating thing briefly when I moved to Seattle in 2004, I'm fairly new to it this time around.

I'm recently back from Kenya after an extended work trip and am now in Marin County for about a month helping some friends open their dream bakery/cafe.

so here's the skinny:

I moved from Seattle to Los Angeles for a job in 2010, and after about 18 months of surreal, celebrity-town strangeness, I realized I missed the soft green trails, textured skies, and more comfortable lifestyle of Seattle. There is so much more to do here than in Southeastern Ohio where I'm from, and I've been trying to explore as much of this region as possible since I originally moved out here in 2004.

I spent 7 years in Kenya while growing up, and did my graduate research there, so I love to talk to people who have traveled, or love to travel (which, it seems, after spending a bit of time on OKC is about 99.99998% of everyone online. I'm curious to know if there's a profile out there that says something like: 'I'm really not into travel - I don't ever like to venture outside of Seattle'). I have a master's degree in cultural/environmental geography, and I love learning about and understanding cultures of various places I've been. I finally made it back to Kenya after 13 years in October for work... and it is really good to be back in a place I consider a second home, even though it's changed an incredible amount since I lived here.

I enjoy working out, especially running. I've competed in races from marathons to 100 miles - the mind/body challenge of longer distances are something that is hard to explain (and I realize it sounds completely insane.. which is probably is). I've actualy moved on from ultra-distance races, and am enjoying being a more moderate runner these day. I still love being out on the trails and seeing the back country, however -- it's my form of meditation.

I love sports, but would rather play than watch... although I enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark or a night watching the Sounders.
I'm comfortable in a fine dining restaurant and love delicious, creative food, but more often tend to hit my favorite sushi or thai places.
What am I looking for? ...sense of humor; sense of adventure; ability to hold a good conversation... all big plusses...
I am a pretty active person - I work a lot, but I like to get out and do things, see the world, try new things, go new places.
Of course, there is always time to sit, relax, have a nice dinner, and chill at home... I value trust, good friendship, intimacy, affection, and most importantly, honesty.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally I work as a business consultant, primarily with a small company here in Seattle and another company in downtown Los Angeles - as well as with the occasional non-profit.

I also sit on the advisory board of a couple of non-profits - one that I'm actually also currently working with in Nairobi. The other was started to honor a high-school friend of mine that was killed in Somalia while he was working as a photo-journalist.

Every now and again I get asked to coach people to help them reach their running goals. I started running about 7 years ago when I quit smoking, and love to help other people find motivation and joy in a sport that I love.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Ok, so I'm pretty good at the whole running thing.
but besides that:
I've been told I'm a good conversation - which I think also means I'm a good listener. I like to meet people and tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I have a wide circle of friends, and enjoy spending time connecting with people.
I also became pretty good at jumping over rattlesnakes in Topanga State Park when I lived in LA... which is something I never really aspired to be good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't know.. maybe my wide Northern Italian nose?

and the fact that I never really stop eating.
