My self-summary
Though there are still a couple of people who called me Jonathan, I normally go by Jon. I'm a 24 year old college grad from Virginia. I had the amazing foresight to get a degree in Psychology with awesome grades knowing that the job market for Psych majors is just overflowing.... *Turns off sarcasm*

Personality-wise, most would say that I generally have a good demeanor, it takes a lot to get me angry so it doesn't usually happen. I find myself using sarcasm pretty often with my close friends (I'm the kind of person who shows how well I know someone by how much I joke with them). I'm a really loyal person, and I tend to stick my neck out for the people that I care about hoping that I would get the same in return. This has come back to bite me in the ass a few times, but the end result is that the people close to me are some of the closest friends I think anyone could have!

In terms of interests, as of late since I've arrived in Korea I am trying my best to put myself outside my comfort zone as much as possible, and though I haven't been here too long yet, I have yet to be disappointed and have already had some amazing experiences. When I'm not out and about exploring the maze of a city that is Seoul, I also tend to get really into awesome TV series including everything from American shows to British comedies I find on Hulu to Korean Dramas that have a tendency of hooking me and making me watch several episodes in a row. I browse reddit as a time-killer, sometimes to a fault as it tends to keep me awake in bed longer than I intend to stay up because I get into reading something.

Back home I found myself going to Dave and Buster's, bowling, laser tag (Hell yes it's for kids but I did it anyway), drinking cheap alcohol with cool people, or even cooking (I like to think I'm pretty good at it too!). Here in Seoul I'm still looking for some unique hobbies to pick up for the weekends but I haven't made it quite that far yet.
What I’m doing with my life
After a ton of paperwork and organization madness and preparation nearly 3 weeks ago I finally got to come to Korea to begin my year of teaching English in a public school! After spending a week in Daejeon for orientation we were picked up and moved to our places of employment.

I'm currently living in the Geumcheon district of Seoul (Near Dakson subway station), and I'm working at Seoul Gasan Elementary School! I'm all kinds of excited to get things underway, it has literally just started hitting me the past week that this is a thing that I'm doing, and it's amazing!
I’m really good at
Reading subtitles at the bottom of a screen while still knowing whats happening above them (I hope this counts as a skill 'cause it sure feels like one). Being a night owl, drinking beer, the internet, typing, cooking, reading reddit.

I feel like at least half of those things shouldn't count as skills....meh I'll keep it anyway
The first things people usually notice about me
Glasses, hands down. Embrace your inner nerd!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies I'm pretty open-minded about. I can enjoy anything from a comedy to a chick flick if that's what the people I'm with feel like watching. Taken was probably one of my all-time favorites though.

I slightly mentioned my addiction to good TV shows earlier, it's a bit of a problem...(American) Suits, How I Met Your Mother, Walking Dead, Sopranos, Mad Men, Lost, White Collar (British) Original Office, Whites, Misfits (J-Drama) GTO Great Teacher Onizuka (K-Drama) Master's Sun, Secret Garden, Vampire Prosecutor, Killer Girl K, Yacha (Anime) Death Note, Yu Yu Hakusho, Darker Than Black

Those literally just scratch the surface haha
The six things I could never do without
This seems like sort of a silly one because there's at least a couple things that have to occupy some of these spots. If I were to assume I somehow didn't need water, food, sleep etc. I would say my Mother, company of close friends, a computer with the internet, good wine or beer, and the opportunity to travel.

Hey that's only 5, guess I get to sleep after all! Wait does the internet count as its own?.....
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How these people I see on the subway in Seoul just step on and immediately move to the side their door will open on and just wait patiently for their stop. I know in many cases these people have taken these routes so many times that it is probably just muscle memory, but it is really impressive to see them have the system internalized while I'm staring at my map on my phone to make sure I don't miss my stop.

How to say the names of 2 really delicious Korean dishes I've had and also where I can call to order them near my apartment.

How the people who write How I Met Your Mother are going to keep the story drawn out for this whole season.
On a typical Friday night I am
Uh, well. So far my first Friday in Seoul was quite the boring one, I actually got my ass kicked with allergies while I was at school this Friday so I unfortunately had to turn down an invite for BBQ and norebang in Hongdae because I was not a functioning human....boo.

I suppose I'll update this after next Friday?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hm.....even though I really enjoy horror movies, some still creep me the fuck out, and I wonder halfway through a movie why I decided to do this and how one part of my brain was going to explain to the other that I won't be getting any sleep that night.
