My self-summary
I love Jesus, words, new friends, laughter and all different cultures. Lately, I've found myself writing short stories, acting in a Playback theater group and dancing lots. Got a bit of an edge; irony, gentle sarcasm, and nimble quips are the way to my heart. Use them well, and I will melt -- and give you some right back :) Deep down, though, I'm all about hope and am kind of a tender one.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a teacher's aide at a local school and am pursuing creative writing and being a member of many communities -- family, friends, church. I think life is most richly lived interacting with all different ages.
I’m really good at
Writing, editing, articulating my feelings, expressing myself in body and mind.

Being fascinated.

Finding humor in things and enjoying the ridiculous.

Enjoying simple and extravagant pleasures alike.

Avoiding answering questions about my sexual preferences on OKC. Therefore my personality profile says "less sex driven." I prefer to discuss that stuff with the appropriate person at the appropriate time, and I'm just as driven as the next person. Word.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So hard, there are a ton. These are all jumbled together. Grapes of Wrath. Goodfellas. 1984. Pizza. All kinds of dance, from trance to house to American pop to African pop. 90s hip hop. Underground and Christian hip hop, such as Tunnel Rats and Remnant Militia. If you know any more, clue me in! Rare groove, funk. I love WeFunk radio out of Toronto. Blues. Soul. Led Zeppelin. Worship music. Anything I'm dancing to at Lowell Music Festival. Live African drumming and dance. More TV/radio: Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me. 30 Rock. Colbert. More books: John Kennedy Toole Confederacy of Dunces. Jonathan Franzen: Freedom. The Corrections. East of Eden. Still thinking...anything by Alice Munro or Raymond Carver. More movies: Crossing Over. The Visitor. Crash. Shortcuts. Office Space. Just One of the Guys. Harry Met Sally. Bad Teacher. Okay, now that we're getting trashy, Ke$ha. Chris Brown. Kiss 108 and AMP103. More lit: The Crucible by Arthur Miller. ZZ Packer. Lorrie Moore. George Saunders. Flannery O'Connor. Nicholas Kristoff, NYT columnist. Richard Foster, author of Freedom of Simplicity. Anne Lamott. Henri Nouwen. Thomas Merton. Virginia Woolf, Tobias Wolff. Feed by M.T. Anderson - so creepy and great. Mary Karr. Mary Oliver. Gerard Manley Hopkins. Shakespeare. Let's see, more foods: all kinds of nut butters. Cocoa powder, maple syrup. Mangoes. Salmon. Indian food. Anything cooked with love and gratitude, especially while camping. Kale, and chutney by my friend Patty...
The six things I could never do without
God's love, The Holy Spirit, the Bible, my family, my friends...I know that's five, but that covers it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Relationships and how to get along with people, what makes people click together. Sacrifice and reconciliation. Being stretched emotionally by others. How to achieve balance in life. How to be more content. What stranger's lives must be like. How people interact and what they need from each other. Making plans for the future, whether it's the day off I have tomorrow, or next summer. What God thinks of me and how to believe that reality.
On a typical Friday night I am
at a potluck dinner with my church small group or at Playback theater rehearsal
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
not very private but...I need a lot of alone downtime, even though I'm outgoing.
