Dating midterms
May 13, 2010
Am I the only one who finds the distinction between "short-term" and "long-term" dating on the interests checklist simply bizarre? My casual observation is that 99% of profiles check both or neither. Probably more nines than that, actually.
I mean, what, you're going to specify? "I'd like to date, but only if you can promise that you are(n't) going to dig me enough to maintain a relationship for N months, up front." Bweh? The long-term only option is particularly weird. How would you figure _that_ was going to work?
"Look, I'm sorry, this isn't working out, it's not you, it's me."
"Suck it up, buttercup, you signed up for long-term. Or don't you *remember the contract*?"
"Whoops, forgot about that. *My bad*. So...how's Italian sound tonight?"
