I moved here from Boston (via New York), and I still can't quite get over how true every stereotype about LA really is.

I'm not good at liking things ironically. Because of that, I pretty much just try to like and dislike things earnestly. The things I like include politics, men's fashion, food, public transportation, cocktails, LA history, old movies, and Vice President Joe Biden. Things I don't like include pumpkin spice, roller coasters, and New Year's Eve.

I'm trying to get someone elected Mayor of Los Angeles. If you can name the top contenders, drinks are on me. They're probably on me anyway, but I'll buy apps, too.

I'm also trying to learn Spanish. I run a lot, and I do yoga. But mostly, I'm working on that mayor thing.

Matching ties with shirts. Winning political campaigns for Democrats. Winning the 2011 Boston Pie Experiment AND the 2012 Boston Cake Experiment. Convincing myself I will absolutely go to the gym tomorrow. Arriving 15 minutes late. Using gerunds.

Now that's a question that will keep me up at night.

My favorite books are What it Takes, The Great Gatsby, The Sun Also Rises, Transmetropolitan, anything by Raymond Chandler, and whatever I am reading in my book club. My favorite movies are Westerns and Casablanca. My favorite shows are The Wire, The Office (BBC), Sherlock, Arrested Development, and Firefly. My favorite music is Weezer, The Kinks, Cole Porter, Motown, and neo-Motown (Is that a thing? Whatever Sharon Jones/Fitz and the Tantrums are). My favorite foods are French Brasserie, Vietnamese, and terrible Chinese take-out.
