My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi. I'm a Brooklynite via Ithaca, NY with a penchant for good coffee, good beer, good music, good long-distance running, and good meeting good people. I have a few good, marginally useful skills as well: I bake a mean banana bread, can put my tongue into the shape of clover, and can recite lyrics to many obscure hip hop songs.

Most recently, I was a finalist for the New Yorker cartoon caption contest, which I consider among my greatest accomplishments.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I earn my keep as a web developer and designer, but I also enjoy making music, running marathons, food & drink, etc. I like my job, but don't like to define myself by it, and I like my hobbies as much as (and sometimes more than) what I do for money.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Running, singing, jazz piano, illustrating, listening, climbing trees, coffee chemistry, urban adventures, leaving the city from time to time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Preferably tangible ones... Michael Chabon, Dave Eggers, David Sedaris, Malcolm Gladwell, Vladimir Nabokov, Roberto Bolaño.

Movies: "Darjeeling Limited," "The Last Waltz," "City of God." If you can't laugh at my healthy Star Wars obsession, it might not work out.

Music: Oh boy... Lately I've been on a Fela Kuti kick. Besides that, anything that came out of Brazil, Jazz (Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Ahmad Jamal), R&B/soul (Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, D'Angelo, Raphael Saddiq), hip hop (Mos Def, Common, Kendrick Lamar, The Roots, Pete Rock), as well as a diverse smörgåsbord of rock and folk music from different generations (The Beatles, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Raconteurs... I realize that many of these artists I'm listing together have nothing to do with one another). Flying Lotus, Towa Tei, and Stereolab are cool.

Food: That which is spicy, salty, or foreign to me.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Quality coffee, something to read, food, family, music, music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Outer space, code, music, moving things with my mind, nature, why so many people in this town find it so abhorrent if you don't own a smartphone, and the next phase of my life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Not much for clubbing. Like dark neighborhood bars. Like live music. Sometimes I'd rather stay home and practice piano or create digital illustrations of James Harden with birds living in his beard:
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love this song and don't care what you say:
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You are kind, down-to-earth, and reasonably positive. You recycle. You can teach me something. You are ambitious, but don't make a point to talk about how busy and stressed you are all the time. Bonus points if you didn't post a pouty selfie and can make it through this entire mix and still want to go on a date with me:
