My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am upbeat and fun to be with. I work as the director of a non-profit hospice program, and find that this work helps me stay focused on what is important in life. I am energetic, funny and a little quirky. I recently moved to Annapolis to a home on the water. I have one daughter who is away at college. I especially enjoy being physically active outdoors and hanging out with friends. I enjoy meeting new people and am easy to be around. I love to cook (especially ethnic food), and entertain. I am an avid reader, kayaker, and traveler. In the sprit of living in Annapolis on the water I just bought a 20 ft Grady White. Looking forward to discovering the Chesapeake bay. I am warm and affectionate, enjoy physical intimacy. I also enjoy time to myself; reading and puttering around the house. Not afraid to go out to dinner or to the movies by myself. I am strong, independent and fairly self sufficient. I do, however, miss sharing the more mundane aspects of a shared partnership, that give life it's deep meaning. I find myself looking at a sunrise, sunset, or an osprey circling above,
and wishing there were someone beside me to
share the it with. I lean to the left politically and I believe we each play a part in making this world a better place.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Other than working full time, I am spending a lot of time getting to know my new home town, and discovering all that it has to offer. I will always stay connected to DC and enjoy all it has going on. I love Eastern Market and the museums. I will be looking for ways to volunteer once I get myself a bit more settled. I spend a lot of time listening to classical music and thinking as I commute from Annapolis to Rockville daily. I have seasons tickets to the Annapolis Symphony. Since I just bought a boat- I will be spending more time on the water exploring and fishing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am a good at the art of listening and am very comfortable expressing myself. I am honest and direct. I have a good sense of humor, (occasionally a bit irreverent), and enjoy making others laugh. I've been told by many that I am a great cook.
I am good at what I do professionally and as a nurse am good at assessing and coping with illness. I am a pretty good fisherman. Bait my own hooks and clean and fillet what I catch. I am a good partner, giving and taking equal
measure. I give good massages.
The first things people usually notice about me

I am not sure what people notice first. Perhaps my smile and blue eyes. I think people feel
comfortable with me and find me easy to be with.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I am an avid reader; mostly fiction. Favorite earlier reads included: To Kill A Mockingbird, anything by Updike and Steinbeck, Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, Alice Mcdermott, and Jody Piccoult for a day at the beach. Recent reads include: Unbroken, The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, The Silver Star, Live by Night, Wishin' and Hopin', and Mrs. Poe. I just started The Orphan Train.
I enjoy lots of movies, and among my favorites are: The Wizard of OZ, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile. Last movie I saw was Girl Gone. The book by Gillian Flynn was (as usual) much better than the movie.
I enjoy all types of music except for Rap. I have a renewed interest in classical music-especially Chopin. This year I bought seasons tickets to the Annapolis Symphony. Looking forward to enjoying this music so close to home b
As fas as television goesI enjoy HBO, and Showtime series. I am a huge of Homeland, Masters of Sex, Breaking Bad and PBS series- including Downton Abbey.

Since I love to cook, I enjoy lots of different types of food. The only things I don't like are liver and tripe. Beets aren't at the top of my hit parade either! Everything else is all good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I suppose quite literally I could never live without water, oxygen and food. Like those vital elements, I couldn't live without my daughter either.
Moving on down the list- these are some of the things that I would rather not "do" without:
A great cup of morning Joe
My sense of wonder
A wonderful book
My Kayak and boat
Sunset over the water in my back yard.
Kissing
Lipstick
Photographs
Shared intimacy
Ok, ok,ok - I know-lots more than 6- so sue me!

.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend 2.5 hours every day in my car commuting! It provides me with LOTS of time to think. I think about my life and the a strange twists and turns it has taken. I think about the fact that despite some very challenging times in my life that I am happy and thriving; excited to be alive as I begin this new chapter of my life. Self introspection has been good and brought me to a better place. I think about my work, my friends and family-especially my daughter. I think about my Dad- who died in May 2012, and think about what I learned from him, and from my Mother. I am grateful for the life I have been given.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends for dinner, and possibly a movie or crashing at home with take out and a glass of wine after a well worked week. Could be out on my boat looking at the stars
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I miss the comfort, companionship, and intimacy of a partner and lover.
