My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am upbeat and fun to be with. I work as the director of a non-profit hospice program, and find that this work helps me stay focused on what is important in life. I am energetic, funny and a little quirky. I recently moved to Annapolis to a home on the water. I have one daughter who is away at college. I especially enjoy being physically active outdoors and hanging out with friends. I enjoy meeting new people and am easy to be around. I love to cook (especially ethnic food), and enjoy entertaining. I am an avid reader, kayaker, and traveler. I am warm and affectionate. I enjoy time to myself, yet miss sharing the more mundane aspects of life, that give life deep meaning. I believe in doing the right thing because it is morally or ethically right. I believe we each have a responsibility to make this world a better place.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Other than working full time, I am spending a lot of time getting to know my new home town, and discovering all that it has to offer. I will always stay connected to DC and enjoy all that the city has going on. I will be looking for ways to volunteer once I get myself a bit more settled. I spend a lot of time listening to classical music and thinking as I commute from Annapolis to Rockville daily. I feel that I use the time well, so it doesn't bother me too much (except on Friday!)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am a good friend and I am a good partner. I am comfortable communicating, and expressing myself,. I believe that listening is an art. . I have a good sense of humor (occasionally a bit irreverent), and make people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The first things the people notice about me is my smile and my blue eyes. That I am easy to get to know and that I am funny.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I am an avid reader (mostly fiction), and favorite books include: To Kill A Mockingbird, almost anything by Updike and Steinbeck. I have recently read: Unbroken, The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, The Silver Star, Live by Night, Wishin' and Hopin', and Mrs. Poe. I just started Chesapeake by Michener, since I live here I figured that I should.
I enjoy lots of movies, and among my favorites are: The Wizard of OZ, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and recently saw August: Osage County. Meryl Streep and Sean Penn are two of my favorite actors.
I enjoy all types of music except for Rap. I have a renewed interest in classical music-especially Chopin.

I enjoy HBO, and Showtime series. I am/?was a huge fan of Homeland, and Downton Abbey.

Since I love to cook, I enjoy lots of different types of food. The only things I don't like are liver and tripe. Beets aren't at the top of my hit parade either! Everything else is all good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I suppose quite literally we can never live without water, oxygen and food. Like those vital elements, I couldn't live without my daughter either.
Moving on down the list- these are some of the things that I could never "do" without:
A great cup of morning Joe
My sense of wonder
A wonderful book
My Kayak
Sunset over the water in my back yard.
Shared intimacy
Ok, ok,ok - I know-lots more than 6- so sue me!

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend 2.5 hours every day in my car commuting! It provides me with LOTS of time to think. I think about my life and the a strange twists and turns it has taken. I think about the fact that I have not only survived some difficult times, but that I am happy and thriving; excited to be alive as I begin this new chapter of my life. Self introspection has been good and brought me to a better place. I think about my work, my friends and family-especially my daughter. I think about my Dad- who died in May 2012, and think about what I learned from him, and from my Mother. I am grateful for the life I have been given.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends for dinner, and possibly a movie or crashing at home with take out and a glass of wine after a well worked week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I miss the comfort, companionship, and intimacy of a partner and lover.
