My Self-Summary

I think I need someone else to write this section for me. I have been on this site for a long time now and have not entered anything into my profile before now. In part that was because I didn't expect to actually use this thing. I would really like to meet some new people though. Not that I don't really appreciate the people I am close to now.
I tend to be really busy though, so I don't often have to time to actually follow through with new connections, even if I'd like to.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a grad student at UCSD. I teach classes there when I can, and TA when I can't teach for myself. I also garden and sew and make jewelry and cook and generally try to maintain the balanced life I used to have before grade* school came dangerously close to overtaking my life.

*this is a typo- it should (perhaps obviously) say grad school. It was pointed out to me though (thanks MechaSaprophyte) that it is more amusing this way.

I’m really good at

I am competent a variety of crafty sorts of things. I'm a pretty decent teacher I think. I've tended to excel in traditional academic settings. I'm good a being a great and dependable friend when I need to be, while sometimes being cluelessly caustic in social situations. I can be really good at having no tact whatsoever, but then, I guess that's not quite a good thing. I am really good at being able to be told anything. really. I can take it.

The first things people usually notice about me

No idea. My hair changes color a lot, so depending on how bright it is, sometimes that might be it.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Alice in Wonderland, The Fermata, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Importance of Being Ernest, Nice Work, Terry Pratchett, Lamb, Snow Crash,

Errol Morris, David Attenborough, Joss Whedon, Miyazaki, Tim Burton, Matt Groening

Nightmare Before Christmas, Triplets of Belleville, Being John Malkovich, Harold and Maude, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Office Space, Conspirators of Pleasure

I love food. In fact, I am sometime teased about my love of produce in particular. Also, I'm a vegetarian (though there are reasons for that beyond my deep affection for vegetables).

On a typical Friday night I am

At my place playing games (board, video, occasionally lawn) with some friends while enjoying various consumables.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Also I almost irresistibly add extra e's to the ends of many words when I am typing. For a fun game - try proofreading my profile for such errors!
