I am thoughtful, cheerful, and warm.

My Self-Summary

It's difficult to stick adjectives on yourself, I think, so I'll just go with the interests =) English Lit major, loves singing, especially a cappella, writing, reading, and hanging out with friends to talk for hours on end.

What I’m doing with my life

July 08
Am officially a graduate as of last week, so most my life now is spent catching up with friends, taking truckloads of photos, and yes-- singing with my a cappella folks. Enough to keep me busy in the meantime, thought my guess is reality--that which we call work-- beckons in the not-so-distant future.

Looks like I've graduated for ages since the last update... it feels strange and kinda scary, when you think about how time flies. Am working currently, in what is officially supposed to be a stable 8.30 to 6 job. Let's just say that from the last statement, only the 'stable' and the '8.30am' bit has met expectations :P That said, I'm generally content, though truth to be told, I do still miss my schooling days every once in a while.

I’m really good at

Procrastinating. (Oh? Am I supposed to write something good?)

Okay, I guess I'm a pretty decent listener--or so friends tell me :) I can't say I'm brilliant at anything in particular, but strangely enough people love me anyway, or so I like to think -laughs-

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love children's fantasy books. (Watch the atas people snort and click the 'back' button) I do read proper literature, if you would classify 19th Century British Classics, or 21st Century Postmodern fragmented-and-pieced-together intertextual texts to be it. They put me in awe, Oscar Wilde and Burgess and Coetzee and the rest, with their brilliance and their wit, but it's mostly in children's lit that I rediscover the sense of wonder so often lost to the jaded, bruised, untrusting adult. I love Diana Wynne Jones's texts, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, and yes, I do like Harry Potter as well, though it must have been ages since I've read the latter.

Another text wholly out of the category, but nevertheless an utterly brilliant read, is Dan Simmons' Ilium and Olympus. Catch them both if you like a healthy mix of heavy mixture of lit and sci-fi :)

Music? Hmmm, a wide range, I guess... musical taste is a difficult thing to pinpoint--it depends on my mood at the point in time. If I were to pick something... I love oldies, in general. English pop from the 70s and 80s (think ABBA and Carpenters); Chinese ballads from the 90s. When I go KTV with friends they grumble that the MTVs of the songs I pick are grainy and outdated (but sing along with me anyway, so I guess it's not entirely a bad thing!)

Food? I love food of all sorts, anytime, anywhere :) S'long as the company is good, food can never go terribly wrong... at least, most of the time they don't.

The six things I could never do without

Family, friends, words, music, meaningful conversation, and the Internet.

On a typical Friday night I am

...a happy kid. It doesn't matter where I'm gonna be-- out with friends, home with family... the notion of having a weekend stretched out before you is pure luxury and bliss. If you'd had a crummy week, hey, here's your reset button to start the new week on a brand new note.
