I am snap, crackle, and pop.

My Self-Summary

I'm a simple guy who thrives on simple pleasures: Small gatherings. Stiff drinks. Crisp mornings. Lazy afternoons. I've got great friends and family, an interesting job and a little cat who likes to lick my finger. Life is pretty good.

I've settled into a pretty pleasant place with my social life and my career. I grew up in the D.C. area and I'm lucky to have most of my family and plenty of good friends nearby. My job keeps me challenged and allows me enough creative room to keep my mind nimble.

I'm a news and pop culture junkie, a history dork and a fan of wandering the city, random '80s trivia, maps, puns and unexplored possibilities.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm an editor for a local newspaper/Web site. A typical day can range from summarizing thorny socio-political-racial-economic topics to evaluating whether a set of boobs is pixelated enough to pass muster.

I’m really good at

Finding my way in new places, turning phrases and remembering tiny details.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I smile easily and am usually genuinely interested in what they've got to say.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music: Lately, I've been listening to a lot of James, Dr. Dog, The Beatles, Keane, Fiction Plane, Old Crow Medicine Show, Van Morrison, Iron & Wine, Supergrass, R.E.M. and some early '90s 10,000 Maniacs.

Books: These days, I'm geeking out to David McCullough's "John Adams." When I'm looking for a laugh, I usually turn to David Sedaris or Augusten Burroughs.

Movies: Recent faves include "The Dark Knight," "Frost/Nixon," "Little Miss Sunshine," "Juno," "Good Night, and Good Luck" and "Superbad."

Food: Just about anything, but I have a weakness for potatoes in all their many delicious forms.

The six things I could never do without

Good friends, good food, a reason to get up in the morning, conversation, challenges, love.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

That story that I want to write that's aaaaaaaaaaaaalmost fully formed, but isn't.

On a typical Friday night I am

Chatting about the week gone by over dinner and drinks with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I sing to my cat. She suffers so you don't have to.

You should message me if

You think I'm cute, funny or would be fun to chat with.
