My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

I see myself as warm, imaginative, curious, laid-back, funny, and playful, and adventurous except for jumping out of airplanes. Often ironic, dry, or sarcastic. I'm open and open-minded, and I enjoy creativity. I'm NOT conservative. I like grittiness. I'm sometimes thoughtful, sometimes talkative.

Things I like: live music, biking, skiing, hiking, movies, theater, museums, animals. I love nature and the outdoors (and I'm a bit distressed about the f@cked up state of the world).

I have close friends from my whole life going back to childhood. Different pockets of people, different types. I think this is something I'm lucky in. Maybe it's because I have good, two-way conversations. I'm really social.

I have 6 plants, all hanging in the windows or perched on high ledges. The one with the most epic, moving history is a cactus.

Like many people, I like traveling. I've traveled a lot around Europe, the US, and the Americas. A year in England during college. I've been on some beautiful bike trips. A yoga ashram in the Bahamas last year (I'm just a beginner, my breathing is always off). I want to go to the Far East, New Zealand, Iceland, South America, Berlin, Prague, or just escape to the woods in the Catskills.

I eat pretty well. For lunch I have a lot of enormous salads with gobs of nutrients. By birth or by upbringing, I have little interest in junk food.

I think I'll make a good father. I can be both goofy and serious, I have wisdom to give, and kids like me.

Finally, in case you gasped in horror at my age, I am naturally fit, and on top of that I go to the gym sometimes so I'm in good shape. Nice complexion too. One of my greatest talents is to age very slowly.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've been living in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn for about 10 years. I was raised in a Jersey suburb outside New York City. It was really more like Dazed and Confused and Mean Girls than the Sopranos or Jersey Shore, and we had a very good curriculum. I work in software, a very pleasant place to be that let's me enjoy life - but I'm not at all a tech junkie, never have been. (Was a lawyer before, intended to go into environmental law/policy, didn't like being a lawyer - still environmental though.) Financially comfortable & stable.

I write stuff down, anything that comes to mind - funny, psychological, historical, philosophical. I think writing is fun and self-inspiring. Maybe I'll stick it all in a novel or short stories one day. I also write down my dreams, whenever I can remember them.

My brother and I have embarked on recorded interviews of my parents, about themselves and the 20th century. We're doing it for posterity, for the world...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh.
I'm really good with words.
I'm fairly good at skiing and pool, not "really" good.
I used to hit a baseball well. If you want to go to the batting cages, I'd be happy to.
The first things people usually notice about me

My first album, chosen in 2nd grade under the guidance of my older brother, was the White Album. I listened to it a million times, following the lyrics end to end. From there I've branched out to all different kinds of music today - too much to list, I can't list bands. I've been listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a lot lately. I still have my old vinyl, though I admit I don't listen to it much.

As for movies, I like independent, old, foreign, arthouse. And comedy and superhero movies from Hollywood. Great movies I've seen in the last few months: The White Ribbon, Duck Soup (Marx Bros), Nashville, and Cool Hand Luke. If you want I'll send you the next 45 movies on my Netflix list to help you come to a decision about me.

On TV, I like Game of Thrones, the Daily Show, Colbert Report (sad to see them go). I don't watch tons of TV.

A few favorite recent-ish books are Kavalier and Clay, Oscar Wao, and The Secret History, and I love a lot of old ones too. I love to read. I recently read "Tenth of December" by George Saunders (great). For news, NY Times.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
friends and family. adventure. great music, movies, books, art. something to write in, including the notepad in my phone. the outdoors. my bike. and of course love and affection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
funny or interesting ways to describe things. the environment/the world's fate. beginnings and origins.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
out with friends, or staying in watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
more of a disclaimer than revelation of a secret:
the golf course pic of me is a rarity. i'm not a big golfer.

I'm looking for a woman who is laid-back, unpretentious, imaginatively adventurous, uninhibited, open, and not afraid of foul language. Or at least some of those things.

I am not looking for hookups, or to waste anyone's time, or mess with anyone's emotions. If we meet and like each other, you will soon find out I'm authentic, you'll meet my friends and family, and see me exit this site forever.
