My self-summary
I'm simple, yet complicated. I have an excess amount of common sense. I don't have any time or patience for small mindedness, ignorance, people who insult others to build themselves up, insecurity, bad drivers and Republicans. Not all Republicans however, let me clarify, lest you think me small minded. It's the Tea Party Republicans, the Fox News watching, Obama hating, misogynistic, anti-science, hyper religious types that really get me fired up.

Anyway, enough of that. I consider myself to be well educated, though mostly "self taught." I have/do read an exorbitant amount. I've been lucky enough to have been able to travel the world, extensively and have lived in 5 different countries and on both coasts of the United States I think we should (as a society) insist that everyone travel when they're young, so they can see how bad/good the world can be. In my opinion and experience, traveling (and exposure to different cultures/lifestyles, especially poverty/war) is a necessary component to a well rounded education, there are distinct and perceivable differences between people who have and have not experienced what life is like outside of the US/North America.

I love the outdoors, I love rainy, foggy weather (call me crazy.) I love to laugh. I love a good cup of coffee in the evening and good beer in the morning (especially in the shower)! I have high aspirations and goals for my life. I think money IS important, anyone who says money doesn't equal happiness simply hasn't ever had enough money. Having said that, I realize money is only a part of the equation when it comes to happiness.

I have been accused of being a bit of an Alpha male. However, I am also respectful, considerate, gentle (most of the time) and kind. If you treat me well, I will do the same. If you treat me poorly, I will still be kind and respectful, though I won't spend any time with you if I can help it. If you waste my time, are unkind, malicious, vindictive, selfish, small minded/bigoted, a gossip, cruel to animals or if you hate your father/mother, we won't get along very well.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm changing the world. Mark my words. I will leave this planet a better place than I found it, in big ways and small. I firmly believe it is our job(s) (as human beings and the most intelligent species on earth, for now...) to be good stewards of the environment, to pass on the wisdom and lessons of those who have gone before us to the next generation. To insist that our children and our grandchildren learn from our mistakes in the hope that they won't repeat them. To wipe out racism, sexism, slavery (sexual & otherwise) war, famine/drought and all forms of physical violence. To advance science and medicine and to annihilate all forms of harmful religiosity and superstition and free those who have been indoctrinated by lies and nonsense and who lives in fear and mental/emotional bondage.
I’m really good at
I don't know how to answer this without sounding like a windbag... (too late? Oh well) I'll tell you what, if we ever meet me in person, I'll let you help me fill this section out.
The first things people usually notice about me
Size/physical presence - I'm built like Brian Urlacher.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
- A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson (amazing author!!!)
- God is Not Great, by Christopher Hitchens (and everything else he's ever written, "Hitch" is a personal hero of mine.)
- Letter to a Christian Nation, Lying, Free Will and The End of Faith, all by Sam Harris.
- On the Shoulders of Giants, by Steven Hawking
- The Western Canon, by Harold Bloom
- John Sanford's "Prey" series are my favorite fiction books, by far. The Game of Thrones series is a close second. Don't judge me.
- A Demon Haunted World, By Carl Sagan

- I like comedy and drama (TV/Movies) and I approach (movies and television) as "passive" entertainment. My brain doesn't think they're important enough for me to remember for very long. I can watch a movie after having seen it 2-3 months before and not remember how it ends. It's kind of nice, actually. However, it also means I'm TERRIBLE at the "Entertainment" questions in Trivial Pursuit.

- Thai
- Indian
- Mexican/Spanish
- Creole
- Seafood
- Anything/everything spicy.
* (Not necessarily in that order)
The six things I could never do without
1. A smartphone/tablet or computer... sad but true.
2. Football (I am a massive, lifelong Seahawks fan! Superbowl 48 CHAMPS!!!)
3. The ability to learn new things.
4. At least 1 person that understands me and is willing to go out of their way to make sure I know it.
5. 4 seasons (especially, Fall/Autumn)
6. The love of a small, fury animal. :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- The future of mankind and our planet.
- Politics (and how to improve the political system in the US and globally.)
- Religion (more specifically, how to get rid of it.)
- Geeky "science stuff".
- What I would do if I won a BIG lottery, though I never buy lottery tickets.
- How I can learn from mistakes I've made and capitalize on the good decisions.
- I also often wonder if I'm crazy, or if everyone else is...
On a typical Friday night I am
There's no such thing as a typical Friday night for me...
