Ever hear of the pop punk band Stereotypical Us, straight out of the underground high school auditorium scene in Denver, Colorado? Yeah, that was me. However, the reason you may have overlooked them is because ultimately I rebelled against the stable, cookie-cutter rockstar career that the Man says we should all strive for, and opted instead for the wild, chaotic, live-fast-die-young path of science and medicine. Just try and keep up with me! This of course has led me to NYC - sure, known for fashion and finance - but especially known as a draw for young, burgeoning scientists trying to "make it," as it were. Certainly, you'll find me banging around the local hole-in-wall hospitals or laboratories, but I'll add that this lifestyle has really been a gateway into more unsavory hobbies, such as craft beer bars, contemporary art museums, and indie music festivals. I know your parents would probably never endorse you dating "some deadbeat doctor," but maybe it's that rebelliousness that's just so appealing...

Working my way through an MD-PhD program, which means I'm halfway through med school and mid-PhD. I've had a lifelong passion for Neuroscience, and it's definitely worth the lengthy training because I love what I do! The more I learn about the brain, the more amazed I am by it. Humans are capable of such incredible things like, for instance, distilling highly complex thoughts into concise 140-character tweets! Also, I should mention: you know how you're probably imagining me as a character on the Big Bang Theory? Yeah, I'm nothing like that. Or ahem, sorry, should I say, the similitude between my present pedestrian reality and the caricatured exploits of a verbose and jargon-laden fictional nerd archetype on a national syndicate is nil.

My presence.

I tend to read a lot of non-fiction, recently Peter Hessler's Country Driving and David Foster Wallace's collection Consider the Lobster.

Music-wise, my recent obsessions include Okkervil River, the Naked and Famous, Ra Ra Riot, Walk the Moon, Bombay Bicycle Club, Sleigh Bells, Kopecky Family Band, Horse Feathers, and the Black Keys, among many, many others.

TV-wise, I've been following Breaking Bad, Archer, Mad Men, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, and MTV's True Life (some of the most objective documentary-style reality TV out there, I think...seriously).

Movie-wise, I have a special place in my heart for badassery like Inglorious Basterds and 3:10 to Yuma. But some of the best movies I've recently enjoyed were documentaries like Anvil and Exit Through the Gift Shop.

How I think.

Out at a happy hour, friend's birthday, trying a new beer bar, or going to a concert. However, I do eventually reach a point of saturation and can easily be talked into laying in bed all day with Chinese food and Netflix. Sometimes you just need that.

I still think Third Eye Blind is a talented, quality band that deserves more credit.
