I am Fun, Intelligent, and Curious.

My Self-Summary

My name is Jeff.
I am a pretty easy going guy who likes to have fun, but also really enjoys deep and/or serious conversation. I have always considered myself to be a little bit of everything and not a ton of any one thing. I like people who are honest and genuine, who appreciate the little things in life, who can laugh at themselves, who enjoy new experiences, who love and care about people, and who challenge those whom they are in relationship with and like to be challenged as well. Guess I'm looking for someone who can be both sweet and assertive, both active and calm, a talker and a listener, opinionated and open minded, challenging and supportive, a source of accountability and forgiveness, nurturing and tough... agian, a little bit of everything. I'm pretty open, so if there's anything you want to know, feel free to ask.
By the way, I just put the "very serious about agnosticism" thing over there because I think it's pretty funny to think of how someone could really be all that serious about agnosticism...

What I’m doing with my life

Moved to Atlanta a few months ago to go to Chiropractic school. Still getting settled a little in the sense that I haven't really gotten to take advantage of the city too much yet, but hopefully that will change soon. Starting to train for a marathon, though there's a long way to go... ok, that was a pretty horrible joke, I know, but I am pretty excited since it's something I've wanted to do for years. Aside from that, the usual- trying to better myself in any way that I can, trying to find interesting new experiences, and trying to find good relationships with good people that will be fulfilling and rewarding for all parties involved.

I’m really good at

I guess people tell me I am good at singing, dancing (though that may be more for the entertainment value and/or humor), being sarcastic, racquetball, playing drums, talking/listening/giving advice, problem solving, if I'm training I can be a half-way descent runner, and I'm pretty darn good at making people laugh. There aren't too many things that I'm really horrible at, but unfortunately nothing I'm really ridiculously stellar at either... it always feels a bit odd filling in this part, but I guess there ya go.

The first things people usually notice about me

My Voice- I get told a lot that I should do radio (maybe they're just meaning to say that I've got a face for radio...); My Laugh-which I'm told is contageous; My Smile; That it feels like you've know me for years right away... I guess there's not one constant, so let me know what you notice!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I tend to like books that make me think. That can either be through a good story or through some keen observations about life. I really enjoyed Tuesdays With Morie, Wild at Heart, Blue Like Jazz, etc. I have also found that I love quotes, they can be so concisely profound... though I also like ones with pseudo profundity e.g. "Once bread becomes toast, it can never be bread again..." I do like witty or satirical stuff like Kurt Vonnegut and short stories. I have also developed the not-so-wonderful habit of starting like ten different books at the same time, and lately I have found that I am almost incapable of walking into a bookstore and not buying at least one book before I leave.

I pretty much like movies in general. I like silly comedies, heavy dramas, intellectual documentaries, tongue in cheek mockumentaries, yes, even chick flicks... anything that's either done well enough to appreciate or so poorly that it's funny. My favorite movies are ones that combine a number of elements and are able to make you laugh, cry, think, learn, and sometimes even change all in one. A few I consider classics: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Good Will Hunting, Silence of the Lambs, Charade, Empire Records, True Lies, Amelie, Anchorman, The Cutting Edge (I know, but I love it), The Shawshank Redemption, Magnolia, The Incredibles, Memento, The Princess Bride... the list definitely goes on, but I'll stop there.

I like any music that makes me feel. Makes me feel happy, sad, whimsical, empowered, reflective, feel the need to get up and dance, feel the need to sing along- to me that's the whole point of music, feeling. I like rock, jazz, latin, classical, oldies, some hip hop, a little rap, funk, blues, some indie/emo, singer songwriter, folk. I'm pretty much up for anything.

I love the experience that dining can be. I love the familiarity and home feeling of going to an old hang out and getting your favorite dish. I also really love having new dining experiences and finding great new places to go, whether that be an old dive or a posh new place. I miss having friends around that like to go out for sushi (I don't know why people are so scared of it, but to each his own I suppose). Predictable as this is becoming, again, I guess I'm up for most anything.

The six things I could never do without

Family and Friends, Faith, Intellectual Stimulation, A Sense of Humor, Helping People, Creative Expression (or at least appreciating that of others)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life and all its nuances and challenges. I like to always be learning and improving. I look at life as an adventure and try to enjoy the ride as much as I can.
At this point, I guess I'm trying to stop thinking as much about what I want to do or where I want to go, as how to be the truest version of who I really am... the rest should take care of itself.

On a typical Friday night I am

Going to dinner and a movie with friends, or maybe a little karaoke, but I am up for whatever people wanna do. There are the nights I just like to stay in too.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am pretty much an open book, so I guess I don't see what I feel is too private exactly... anything you wanna know, feel free to ask and I'll likely answer. In song.
