My self-summary
So, I've just decided to chuck my old self-summary and write a new one. But, I make no promises that it will be any better. I enjoy a lot of the simple little things in life, and it is not hard to make me smile or laugh gregariously—one might even say guffaw. I have my up days and down days like anybody, but no matter what I still tend to be an optimist. I can find a way to get interested in just about anything (with the exception of Organic Chemistry... if you've taken it you probably understand), from music, to sports, to art, science, theater, psychology, to pretty much anything you can think of. I am very much a people person, though as I get older, I do appreciate my alone time more and more. I love to travel, and would love to do a lot more of it than I've gotten the chance to do thus far. I am a pretty difficult person not to get along with, and I can usually find at least some common ground that we share. I both like, and am completely sick of politics at the same time. I am always looking for new experiences, and will typically try anything at least once.

As for what I'm looking for on here... I mean, yeah, obviously it would be great to have the good fortune to stumble upon the love of my life and live happily ever after, etc. But, basically I am just looking to find really fun and interesting people that can add something to the richness of my life experiences, and for whom I can do the same. That could be as friends, as something more than friends, as activity partners (ha, we could even go hit up some karaoke or something, lol). Like I said, I like people, and I enjoy making new friends.

By the way, I just put the "very serious about agnosticism" thing over there because I think it's pretty funny to think of how someone could really be all that serious about agnosticism... Oh, and my response on body type is also sarcastic. But even if I DID fit the description of being "Jacked", I sure hope I wouldn't refer to myself as such. And the guffaw line was an edit by a friend, though, I suppose it is true enough.

I am Adventurous, Quick-Witted, and Curious

What I’m doing with my life
About to move back to Omaha for at least a bit. It'll be really nice to be home for a while, and it will save me a lot of money on knocking out some prereqs for the Doctor of Chiropractic program that I plan to enter. I am looking to start a job soon as well.
I would love to start training for a triathlon here soon (did my first marathon about a month ago, and loved it). And if anybody wants to be my running/racquetball/general activity partner, you'll be my favorite person in Omaha!!

I was born and raised in Omaha, but I have spent a little time in Chicago (most recently), was living in Atlanta, spent a few years between KC, and Springfield, MO. I do love Omaha though, and just the feeling of being home. Though, I would really like to get the chance to live abroad at some point, even for a short time, and I will always look for opportunities to travel whenever possible.

Aside from that, the usual- trying to better myself in any way that I can, trying to find interesting new experiences, and trying to find good relationships with great people that will be fulfilling and rewarding for all parties involved.

I’m really good at
I guess people tell me I am good at singing, dancing (though that may be more for the entertainment value and/or humor), being sarcastic, racquetball, playing drums, talking/listening/giving advice, problem solving, if I'm training I can be a half-way decent distance runner, and I'm pretty darn good at making people laugh. There aren't too many things that I'm really horrible at, but unfortunately nothing I'm really ridiculously stellar at either... it always feels a bit odd filling in this part, but I guess there ya go.

The first things people usually notice about me
My Voice- I get told a lot that I should do radio (maybe they're just meaning to say that I've got a face for radio...); My Laugh-which I'm told is contagious (though I find it ridiculous); My Smile; My overuse of parentheses (as I am currently illustrating); That it feels like you've know me for years right away... I guess there's not one constant, so let me know what you notice!

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I tend to like books that make me think. That can either be through a good story or through some keen observations about life. I really enjoyed Tuesdays With Morie, Wild at Heart, Blue Like Jazz, etc. I have also found that I love quotes, they can be so concisely profound... though I also like ones with pseudo profundity e.g. "Once bread becomes toast, it can never be bread again..." I do like witty or satirical stuff like Kurt Vonnegut and I really like short stories. I have also developed the not-so-wonderful habit of starting like ten different books at the same time, and lately I have found that I am almost incapable of walking into a bookstore and not buying at least one book before I leave.
Currently Reading: The Lovely Bones

I pretty much like movies in general. I like silly comedies, heavy dramas, intellectual documentaries, tongue in cheek mockumentaries, yes, even chick flicks... anything that's either done well enough to appreciate or so poorly that it's funny. My favorite movies are ones that combine a number of elements and are able to make you laugh, cry, think, learn, and sometimes even change all in one. A few I consider classics: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Good Will Hunting, Silence of the Lambs, Charade, Empire Records, Stranger Than Fiction, True Lies, Amelie, Anchorman, The Cutting Edge (I know, but I love it), The Shawshank Redemption, Magnolia, The Incredibles, Memento, The Princess Bride... the list definitely goes on, but I'll stop there.

Ha, I've realized that I tend, for whatever reason to like TV shows with one word titles... House, Psych, Dexter, Weeds, Scrubs, Castle, Bones, Community, etc. There are many with more than one word too though. And ya gotta love The Daily Show.

I like any music that makes me feel. Makes me feel happy, sad, whimsical, empowered, reflective, feel the need to get up and dance, feel the need to sing along- to me that's the whole point of music, feeling. I like rock, jazz, latin, classical, oldies, some hip hop, a little rap, funk, blues, some indie/emo, singer songwriter. I'm pretty much up for anything. And I would definitely take any suggestions anybody has on good venues that I should check out now that I'm in Chicago...

I love the experience that dining can be. I love the familiarity and home feeling of going to an old hang out and getting your favorite dish. I also really love having new dining experiences and finding great new places to go; whether that be an old dive or a posh new place. I miss having friends around that like to go out for sushi (I don't know why people are so scared of it, but to each his own I suppose). Predictable as this is becoming, again, I guess I'm up for most anything.

The six things I could never do without
Family and Friends, Intellectual Stimulation, A Sense of Humor, Helping People, A Little Adventure, Creative Expression (or at least appreciating that of others)

As of recently I must bend the rules and add a 7th... My Vibram barefoot running shoe (and yes, I know that sounds like a contradiction in terms, but look them up and you will see). :)

Ha, and progressing in my marathon training has forced me to add another: Hydrocolloid blister care band aids... they are a life saver!

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. I don't think anyone has every accused me of not thinking enough, lol. I do find my self asking Why and How about any number of random things throughout the day. How does something work, Why does it do that, etc. Guess it makes sense that I have ended up in a scientific field.

And of course the normal things, like where will I be in a few years, and who will be in my life, and how do I meet all the goals I have for myself, but not overdue it by trying to reach them all at once.

On a typical Friday night I am
Well, right now, at a wonderful 4 HOUR LONG Biochemistry class til like 8pm. After that, going to dinner and a movie with friends, or maybe a little karaoke, or just finding some random pace to go check out in the city. But I am up for whatever people wanna do. There are the nights I just like to stay in too.

Though, starting this week, for a good while I will be trying to get to bed as early as possible to get meet up with the CARA training group at 6am on Saturday.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am pretty much an open book, so I guess I don't see what I feel is too private exactly... anything you wanna know, feel free to ask and I'll likely answer. In song.
