I tend to like books that make me think. That can either be through
a good story or through some keen observations about life. I really
enjoyed Tuesdays With Morie, Wild at Heart, Blue Like Jazz, etc. I
have also found that I love quotes, they can be so concisely
profound... though I also like ones with pseudo profundity e.g.
"Once bread becomes toast, it can never be bread again..." I do
like witty or satirical stuff like Kurt Vonnegut and I really like
short stories. I have also developed the not-so-wonderful habit of
starting like ten different books at the same time, and lately I
have found that I am almost incapable of walking into a bookstore
and not buying at least one book before I leave.
Currently Reading: The Lovely Bones
I pretty much like movies in general. I like silly comedies, heavy
dramas, intellectual documentaries, tongue in cheek mockumentaries,
yes, even chick flicks... anything that's either done well enough
to appreciate or so poorly that it's funny. My favorite movies are
ones that combine a number of elements and are able to make you
laugh, cry, think, learn, and sometimes even change all in one. A
few I consider classics: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ferris
Bueller's Day Off, Good Will Hunting, Silence of the Lambs,
Charade, Empire Records, Stranger Than Fiction, True Lies, Amelie,
Anchorman, The Cutting Edge (I know, but I love it), The Shawshank
Redemption, Magnolia, The Incredibles, Memento, The Princess
Bride... the list definitely goes on, but I'll stop there.
Ha, I've realized that I tend, for whatever reason to like TV shows
with one word titles... House, Psych, Dexter, Weeds, Scrubs,
Castle, Bones, Community, etc. There are many with more than one
word too though. And ya gotta love The Daily Show.
I like any music that makes me feel. Makes me feel happy, sad,
whimsical, empowered, reflective, feel the need to get up and
dance, feel the need to sing along- to me that's the whole point of
music, feeling. I like rock, jazz, latin, classical, oldies, some
hip hop, a little rap, funk, blues, some indie/emo, singer
songwriter. I'm pretty much up for anything. And I would definitely
take any suggestions anybody has on good venues that I should check
out now that I'm in Chicago...
I love the experience that dining can be. I love the familiarity
and home feeling of going to an old hang out and getting your
favorite dish. I also really love having new dining experiences and
finding great new places to go; whether that be an old dive or a
posh new place. I miss having friends around that like to go out
for sushi (I don't know why people are so scared of it, but to each
his own I suppose). Predictable as this is becoming, again, I guess
I'm up for most anything.
