Grew up in the East Bay where I spent my youth watching Star Trek and going to punk/hardcore shows. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I don't take myself too seriously, except when I do. I drink my hot chocolate with soymilk and a dash of cinnamon. I'm a big fan of giant robots.

Working at a tech/finance startup in San Francisco and trying to look good while doing it.

When I'm not at work you can find me catching a movie, reading a book, rescuing a princess, traveling into outer space, or contemplating my place in the universe. Also trying to look good while doing these things.

I am sometimes contradictory, but aren't we all?

Being a gentleman. Being ridiculous. Listening to you when you've had a bad day - or a good one. Impressing your parents. Giving handshakes. Playing Street Fighter.

I asked someone and here's what they said:

"You're a skinny guy." (And then he said I didn't have to put that, but that would be dishonest.)

"You have stretched earlobes." (5/8s for those counting. I'm okay with it if yours are bigger.)

"Your sense of style." (Like I said up there, trying to look good while doing all the things.)

I tend to like learning things like these over the natural course of developing a relationship (platonic or otherwise), but here's a sample in case you're just dying to know the kinds of things I like.

Books: The Great Gatsby, Invisible Monsters, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Glitz, glamor, and British sci-fi humour.

Movies: Ghostbusters, (500) Days of Summer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Beetlejuice, Helvetica. Basically I like indie romances, ghosts, Winona Ryder, and documentaries about typefaces.

Shows: Mad Men, Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, American Horror Story, Scrubs. Joss Whedon, Sci-Fi, the 60s. I'm pretty sure J.D. is my spirit animal.

Music: In no particular order, and only an extremely small list: Joy Division, Pet Shop Boys, Bon Iver, The Cure, Morrissey, Sigur Ros, Thursday, Lydia. If your idea of a good time is browsing each other's iTunes library, or making mixtapes (I guess the kids call them "playlists" these days), then I'm in.

Food: I like Japanese food, but not seafood. I'm a big fan of a well-made sandwich. And well-made pie. And well-made most anything.

Well, then it wouldn't be very private, would it?
