My self-summary
I can almost imagine it....

The best moments are when we make each other laugh, and... I really like it when we cause each other to think and learn and grow too. I love it that we're partners in play, partners in love, partners in working to create a new world that focuses on cooperation and caring and creativity instead of pushing profit margins. And I think it's great that we can enjoy the spark that can sometimes cause a heated debate, sometimes spur us to fight the powers that be in a new way or join an existing, growing protest that's slowly taking over the country and the world, and... sometimes it just causes a play fight to ensue. (or sometimes an extremely hot, 'pushing-the-boundaries' love-making session).

I've been yearning for someone to play with for a really long time; play in every sense of the word. With music, words, bodies, (including dancing and/or skipping down the street), and ideas too.

I'm recovering my physical health from cancer almost 2 years ago and damage from radiation treatments. It's about 3 steps forward and 1 step back. Frustrating but mostly successful.

I love my life (most days), I love my job (but not every second) and I love this planet and the people and creatures on it (but definitely not everyone!).

I have a superhero cape but am having trouble locating it lately. Have you seen it anywhere, by any chance? I was sure I put it....
What I’m doing with my life
Learning, changing, letting go... learning, changing, letting go....
I have a job teaching at a school that I LOVE, despite its challenges. In that and my private life, I'm focusing on creating what I want and coming up against all the programming I have that prevents me from believing I can have it or that I deserve it. Learning about how the universe really works and how important beliefs and feelings are in how you perceive and live in the world. I'm learning how to tune more often into my higher, more authentic self. That feels good.

Also learning how to make enough time in my life for my music, dance, exercise, and friends as well, in a balanced kind of way. It's TRICKY! Oh wait! Damn! I forgot about work again!

I'm a music teacher in the school system (and privately). I feel pretty blessed most of the time: I get to hang out with kids all day; get to play, sing, create music with them and for them; get to laugh a lot and have interesting conversations with the staff and think about how to help kids feel good about themselves while they learn. And they PAY me! lol (not enough but.. oh well, you can't have EVERYTHING, can you?... can you?) When I get time and focus, I play music with friends (and now and then on stage), write and record songs and sing with an a capella quartet at Christmas time.

I currently live with a housemate. We seem to get along just fine. I like her a lot. I have friends who are my age, some that are in their 20s and some in their 60s. My kids are grown up and don't live with me. I really like them too. :-)

Also, if you want to play music, please contact me, even if you don't think there would be 'chemistry'. I'm really fun to play with. I'm pretty sure. I've been making my living through music most of my adult life.

I play guitar and sing, play some keyboards and percussion. Jazz, r & b, pop, rock, indie... Syncopation, cool harmonies and well-crafted, meaningful lyrics totally turn me on.
I’m really good at
-hanging out with kids, caring, laughing, learning, dancing, listening, riding my bike, thinking up cool ideas (but not putting them into fruition - see last point), playing (in every sense of the word), writing songs, procrastinating....

The first things people usually notice about me
-my eyes,
-my smile - I practice it a lot,
-my breasts (they're big - can't help it; grew them myself),
-my laugh,
-my strange ideas and slightly bizarre sense of humour,
-the way I move.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
-books: The Tao of Physics, The Web of Life, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Time Travelers Wife (way before the movie came out), A Wrinkle in Time, The Subtle Knife, the Ethical Slut, books by Barbara Kingsolver, John Irving, Tom Robbins, Anne-Marie MacDonald, Mary Lawson, Barbara Gowdy, historical fiction, juvenile fiction and other books that make me think about the nature of reality...
-movies: Amelie, Rain Man, Harold and Maude, Benny and Joon, Towel Head, Across the Universe..., documentaries like Food, Inc. (horrific but somehow hopeful - if we follow the example of the brave folks who are doing something about it!) and total entertainment ones like the latest Star Trek - I clapped my hands with delight MANY times! And now I have to add Avatar. I wasn't prepared to love it as much as I did. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
- music: jazz, r & b, funk, rock, classical, world, trance - anything with something to say that says it well (and makes me wanna dance, i.e. interesting harmony, melody, lyrics and some kind of syncopated rhythm. I can do 'boom, boom, boom, boom' for about a minute, tops.)
food: omnivorous and don't really have specific favourites, although Thai is getting picked more frequently than other types. I can't live without LOTS of fresh, organic vegetables.
The six things I could never do without
music/dancing
touch/hugs/kissing/sex
laughter
kids
play
freedom - intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual

(see how clever I was to get to say more than 6 things while only using 6 categories? clever eh? huh? eh?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the nature of reality,
politics,
health,
music,
sex,
polyamory,
how to make the world a better place,
what kids need to help them feel supported, loved and free to be who they really are,
how to help support the earth,
things that make me laugh,
why so many people still think that violence could ever be a viable solution - this still makes me cry almost every time,
creating the reality I truly desire,
wondering what is conditioned and what is natural/real,
sex.
On a typical Friday night I am
dancing
playing
hanging out with friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
3 things:
1. I'm basically polyamorous. (Polyamorous = openly, honestly having more than one lover). I'm in a relationship now with one of the best male friends I've ever had danielmcspaniel and his lovely wife bavarianprinces.

It's interesting, challenging and so rewarding, all at the same time. I was married and monogamous for 20 years, so I am quite capable of that as well. :-) Being able to be who I truly am is essential, but I don't NEED to be sexual with more than one person. So if I become involved with someone else and polyamory stops working, so be it.

2. I am very naturally affectionate and capable of great love but am a little afraid to let that happen.

3. I HAVE HERPES SIMPLEX II. Very rarely have symptoms; very mild when they do occur. I don't have sex when it's active, but there are no 100% guarantees. After much research, I've discovered that, like HPV, almost all sexually active people have been exposed to it at some point in their lives. Some people have an immunity to it and some show no symptoms. Many have it and don't know. I almost never have break outs anymore. It's like cold sores: when you are healthy and relatively stress free, you don't have symptoms.

(For more information, see Bavariaprincess' journal entry).

You've been forewarned. :-)

  • Ages 41–59
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You have a picture on here and a profile filled out.

You really think we might be a good match, either for friends, lovers, playmates, musical partners or pen pals.

You want to have a mutually beneficial discussion about life and/ or love.

You like parentheses (or don't mind that I do).

You got all the way to the end of this really long profile (good for you!) and are still interested.

Also, I DON'T DATE PEOPLE WHO ARE ATTACHED, UNLESS THEIR PARTNER IS FULLY AWARE AND IS TOTALLY FINE WITH IT.
No exceptions.
