My self-summary
Originally from this area, I am returning after a 15 year stint in NYC. It is a tough transition, but a good one.

Having relocated, I could use a tour guide through the nuances of midwestern culture. ;) It feels like a bit of a foreign country now that I'm back.

I am a woman who knows what she wants and what she doesn't. That said, I think people grow and change throughout their lives so I'm also open to life's surprises. I am ready to find someone who wants to enjoy the journey together.

I am The Rolling Stones over The Beatles.

I am Renaissance Art over Modern Art.

I am Documentaries and Podcasts over Animation and easy humor.

I have a Shorkie-Bichon named Bette Davis. Take that for what you will. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I currently teach at a local college. I am slowly getting acquainted with suburbia. I am forever trying to focus on the present.
I’m really good at
Communicating, I laugh easily, I work hard and relax well. Before my teaching career I was a singer and actress. I think I was pretty good, but there came a point where bohemia no longer seemed romantic...it just meant poor. ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
It seems to be my eyes. Or that they think they have met me before. I am familiar that way. I am often told I look like Lainie Kazaan. or Bette Midler. Whatevs.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Godfather I and II, Woody Allen (specifically Manhattan and Hannah and her Sisters), old black and white movies, anything with Bette Davis, and I am a sucker for post apocalyptic psychological thrillers.
Books: Varied titles by C.S.Lewis, Anna Quinlan, Barbara Kingsolver, Tim Keller, Anne LaMott, Donald Miller. Erik Larson.
Shows: I love the occasional musical, Tennessee Williams, Chekhov, Opera, etc....
Music: Very eclectic tastes, but my default is folk-rock, namely EddiefromOhio. Also, David Wilcox, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Beatles, and anything Stevie Wonder wrote in the 70's. Sting, Edward Sharp. Alanis. Ani. The Doors. Jethro Tull. Dolly. The Lumineers. The Avett Bros. Mumford and Sons. Lou Barlow. Sarah Barielles.
Food: Sure.
The six things I could never do without
Family.
Mass transit.
Coffee with milk.
Swedish fish.
My phone charger.
My Bathtub.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Fate. Chaos. John Calvin. If the love you take really is equal to the love you make.
On a typical Friday night I am
Chilling out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I get home, whether on my lunch hour or even if I am just going to be home for 30 minutes, I always put on my pajamas.
You should message me if
If you read my profile and want to grab a drink and have some great conversation. Even if it doesn't work out, there is always a story.
