I am independent, intelligent, and have a great sense of humor. I believe in trying to enjoy life no matter what (and I've been through some challenges!).

I'm independent, comfortable in my own skin, and insatiably curious...
I just moved here from the east coast, and am still getting used to the area. I haven't met too many people yet, so I'm looking forward to making some new friends and possibly (hopefully) meeting that one special person....

Who I'm looking for:
Someone who loves to laugh, is fiercely independent, intelligent, has more than the usual degree of human compassion.... someone who is comfortable with themselves and ready to settle down when the time is right, but is OK with taking things slow to start out with.
Oh, and it also really helps if you love kids and dogs :)

I just quit a job as an office manager of a dental practice in New York to move here to the west coast to go back to school :) For work, I'm dabbling in online marketing for my father's business, doing some temp work with dental offices here, and am waiting until I can start classes full time in January (I'm going to become a pediatric nurse practitioner).

1. Working with kids.... I've spent a lot of time working as a tutor, mentor, dance teacher, gymnastics coach, swim instructor, and I loved all of it.

2. Learning languages - I love it. I attained a moderate level of fluency in Swedish in under a year, and became fluent in Italian in six months. My next challenges? Norwegian, Danish, Mandarin and Spanish!

3. Volunteer work; I love to help people, and the challenges I've been through in my life have given me great compassion for people in a variety of different (difficult) situations... I'm a great friend, mentor, and a great listener in general!

4. Making people laugh! I'm sure I haven't done a great job of that here in my profile, but then, I didn't really set out to write a humorous personality profile...

5. Letting you be yourself! I understand that relationships are about two "whole" people who may be fiercely in love but don't need to complete each other... meaning I will always love you for who you are! I won't make you give up guy time, your weekly poker games, or even throw out your porn collection, lol ;)...

That I'm always smiling, and that I laugh often :)... my willingness to help others and make friends quickly is also usually noticed right away.

I like to read just about anything, from a forensic thriller to a technical manual.

Movies? I have so many favorites - horror films (classic and current), anything with Adam Sandler.... there are also certain TV shows I'm addicted to, like House and 30 Rock.

Music? I love classic and alternative rock, r&b, some hip hop/rap, some opera, and even some stuff that defies genre classification - but the majority of what I listen to fits into some type of rock category. I'm a big fan of Coldplay, Five for Fighting, John Mayer, Sarah Brightman, ELO..

Doing any number of things, from going out to staying in with a good movie - I'm not always a big club/bar scene type - I love intimate dinners with a group of friends, bonfires on the beach... then again, occasionally a cozy bar with a rum and coke in hand will hit the spot..

- Sometimes I eat way too much junk food! Fortunately, my metabolism hasn't caught up with me yet! ;0) and for the most part, I do try to stick with a healthy diet!
