Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I find novels rather hard going, but like a lot of the book buying public, I liked the last Franzen. As far as movies go I have a big thing for the films of Mike Nichols, Stephen Frears, Billy Wilder and Peter Wier.
Alodovar and Fassbinder are also great.
Shows? Honestly, who has the time for brodcast media anymore? My favourite podcasts are HR2 Der Tag, BBCR4 Start the Week, BBCR3 Nighwaves and the Economist & FT feeds.
Food: I like food. Anything prepared with thought and care. I like it fresh, not too heavy and simple, but I can aslo go for a lavish curry or a sensational steak. I basically like most food, any further info is gonna be pointless.
The six things I could never do without
